Do you fold the page or use a bookmark

i have a Kindle now so that's sorted. when i'm reading a physical book though, i just remember the page number, i find it very easy.

I usually have several books on the go, but I have only one real book mark. I just use Royal Mail 'sorry you were too slow' cards for the others. I have plenty knocking around. Perk of the job.

I could never fold a page though. Defacing a book in that way makes me uncomfortable. Food stains on the other hand, bolognese sauce especially... that's cool.

I used to remember the page number(s) until I was about 12 or 13 then started using bookmarks although I can't remember why I changed, it might have been due to having several books on the go at once. I never fold the corners of my books - while I'm not particularly precious about how my books are kept (they're meant to be read and enjoyed after all) it's just not something I do.

20 year old Garfield Bookmark, still in mint condition, I guess being sandwiched between pages of a book preserves book marks.

If I have 2 books on the go I use the nearest receipt or scrap of paper

*lets out a small ook*

You shall be amongst the first to be put up against the wall, and hung by your ankles when the Secret Order of the Librarians take over...

Pah i fear no Librarians! The day they come for me will be their last...

All will be slain by heart attacks from witnessing the poor spine condition of all my books. MUWAHAHAHA!!

I like the feel of a page, and the knowledge I can put it down next to a swimming pool lounger and it's not desirable to nick/won't get wet etc

Does nobody else go commando? I don't use bookmarks, fold the page, bend the spine or mark my place in any way. I just open it again and continue reading. Sometimes I make an effort to remember the page number, but I always forget it before I pick the book up again so it's pretty pointless.

Books? This is 2010.

And yet I don't think any other media form will ever entirely supplant the pleasure I get from reading a physical book. Few things in life are simpler yet more satisfying than relaxing with a good book on holiday. Maybe the physical sensation of holding a book doesn't matter to you but I'm afraid reading text on a screen just doesn't give me the same feeling at all, it's fine to absorb information up to a point but it is lacking as an experience.
