You will get £18-£20 in most places for it. (Not done it in the last week myself but that is the trade value of the game in most high street places)

Yeh, if there is a competitor shop by you they will give £18 trade in and £15 cash according to their website.

Where I live, nobody can usually get anywhere near competitor in terms of cash offered for items. competitor and competitor just suck. :p

competitor normally give £1 - £2 more credit in my experience, than competitor.

The problem with competitor credit is it is used against 2nd hand copies that cost the same or close to what a new copy of a game would cost you (in the 1st week).

competitor will beat anyone else by £1, you just need some kind of proof, be it a printout, something hand-written or a print out/screenshot from the competitor's website. I did that with a load of 360 stuff I traded in and made a massive amount of extra credit by making them beat competitor.

Never done that to be fair, perhaps thats how they rescue their "won't be beaten on trade ins" slogan then, as its appauling as standard

And yeh, competitor is second hand stuff, which is why I mentioned cash mainly, as sometimes cash is a good option :D

There's too many mentions of competitors in here guys. I suggest some of you read the new sticky thread at the top of the forum.

Didn't think discussing trade-in type stuff would be an issue since OcUK don't do trade ins

Ah well, I see the point that they are still being mentioned, I guess I (and others maybe) didn't think about it much because we weren't saying go to [shop] to buy [game], but I still see.

Regardless of the fact that they don't do trade ins, the competitors were selling games.

I'd hate to think that you felt we were being moderating nazis by doing this, I hope you can understand that this is in the best interest for OcUK.

we just like to recycle :P every little helps ^^

edit: wish i came here before the edits hard to think which shop is which now ;p

Whilst I'll abide by the roolies, the competitors rule has and never will work. People will buy where they want, and the non-competitive pricing of Consoles & Games on OcUK means that for most people they are not a viable seller of these goods.

It's pretty rare for someone to ask "Where should I buy this?" and the reason is most people are fully aware of who sells what and at what prices.

If OcUK were seriously entering the gaming marketplace and competing with the other game shops then fair enough but as it stands it makes no sense when the console and games section of OcUK is a niche due to the pricing.

We're not telling people they can't buy elsewhere

People can shop where they like, however it's not fair on Spie if potential business wasn't given due to someone seeing a competitor.

that is true but i also think ppl who buy at those certain price ranges are the sort of ppl to go on site hit buy and away they go, ppl who are more clued up would most likely know about the competitor but i think that is not ur target customers as the buyers prolly dont even find there way to this forum ;p

i can see ur just looking out for the best interests of ur company we just like to voice our opinions sometimes ;p

I don't understand why you locked the competitor thread, you said it's not a rule change to not be able to mention supermarkets regarding games. I suggest you talk to your fellow Dons like Burnsey who told us completely different only a handfull of months ago.

I understand you saying you have clarified the rules but to suggest the rules have always been that way is just wrong. There was a sticky not so long ago that was deleted telling us supermarkets for games was ok.
