Considered getting a banana stand but imagine it'd be moving and dropping all over the place, plus I want minimum stuff on my desk. A clip on the side of the desk is discreet and I'm bad with money so it's all good

The Sennheiser holders are good, but most people I know with the HD595s have managed the break the holder that came with them, including me

You seem to have kept yours in good condition. Mine are looking very scratched and have fallen victim to the dreaded headband cracks. Most likely a result of not using a holder.

My HD595s come to work with my every day and problably get 49hours of use a week, so they're lasting well for 4 years (I think I've had them that long) worth of punishment.
