LOTRO now free to play!

Awww! Well ill have to find another guild i think :( nobody seems to be online on ocuk guild too much waiting for peeps to login

I'll be online over the weekend if anyone wants adding. My job is a bit erratic in terms of working hours at the minute so I'm never 100% as to when I can be on. I should be online from 6pm onwards on Saturday, or most of Sunday if you want an add.

Ok so what's the deal here? The OP was amazingly lacking in any useful information at all, and I cant rgoogle whilst at work...

Can i play the game effectively for free, or will i be missing out on a lot of content? Can someone make a bullet-pointed or easy to read summary of what is missing and what can be achieved? Then we can ask a mod to edit it into the pointless OP :)

You can effectively play for free if you so desire, by default you have access to Ered Luin, The Shire and Breeland and their quests, you have access to the zones after that but no quests in them unless you buy the quest packs for the zones you want. You can buy the quest packs with the points that you build up by doing stuff in those zones that you do have.

The demo is effectively the full game, you can download the 14 day trial now, then when the f2p goes live you simply pick 2 of the characters you have on your trial account that you want to use for f2p and continue playing. (subject to the normal f2p restrictions above of course)

Free to play is out in the US, so if you download the free to play client, you're playing on US servers. The EU version isn't out yet DampCat, so it's your choice on whether you want to play the US version now and wait for the EU version to come out or not.

a lot of people are just playing the 14 day trials atm until the EU version releases.

Just officerate any ocuk you add, or the whole thing will just die on its feet.

It should be added that although the EU f2p isnt officially here yet, you can effectively play for free at the moment as they are allowing trial accounts to simply carry on playing for nothing until the f2p client launches here, so the 14 day trial at the moment is essentially an unlimited time trial

Agreed! , needs to be more officers so the people that are mostly online can add people. Is the kinship just to ocuk members?

& i hate Thursdays

so, is this free to play or is it like guild wars where you buy the box THEN it's free to play or is it free to play but not for UK people
