Gothic 4 - Arcania : A Gothic Tale

Man i need a new PC for this luckly i have one lined up in the next few weeks! Been a fan of gothic since the first one, the 3rd let me down due to amount of bugs it had coupled with the fact that could only play it on minimum settings.

Q6600 - 3.06
GTX260 - 730/1486/1200
8GB Memory
Windows 7
Creative XFI soundcard

ALL HIGH - 1920x1200

Villages = 19-23FPS ( Shadow Quality Low = 25/30FPS )
Outside = 28-30FPS ( Shadow Quality Low = 30-34FPS )

Pretty horrific on my system , going to have to turn off some options though most of them so far haven't made a great deal of difference. I can see why they said recommended i7 @ 3ghz+ :rolleyes:

Disable post processing, and disable ambient occlusion (SSAO), you should be able to have Shadow Quality @ 'high', it's only really 'ultra' that takes a big hit on fps.

Your Q6600@3gig isn't going to be much different in terms of fps compared with an i7@3gig, it's your gpu that's struggling on this one.

Post processing - OFF
Ambient Occlusion ( SSAO ) - Medium
Shadow Quality - HIGH
Viewing Distance - 80%

Much better , sure it's not great but it's much smoother gained an extra 8fps+ , thanks

I'm also using 16XAF as this game really needs it , the ground textures are blurry as hell without AF.

Lol lots of invisible walls , for example if you walk to the top of a large rock you can't just walk off the edge but you have to jump. The pond/lake below the waterfall also stops you from going too far :confused:

How are people getting on with the demo? Any good? I'm downloading it now.

Are the controls intuitive? Joypad compatible?

I don't think my laptop will run this game at an acceptable framerate, I wonder what the xbox 360 version will be like...

Yes , So far my experiences are much better than gothic 3

As for frame rate i've had to tweak even on my system lol which isn't top end though :(

Ah this looks great. Lots of potential.

Another game to look forward to!

I've been waiting for an RPG with graphics this good since Oblivion. Nice to finally have one.

Give that Nehrim oblivion mod a whirl that was posted recently. Its crazy good if you want something to keep you going till this is out.
