Gothic 4 - Arcania : A Gothic Tale

i'm kinda disappointed with the performance, it does look like it's been poorly optimized, and yeah those invisible walls, WTH :/ combat is also a bit rubish, all you need is left mouse button. But it does remind me about Gothic2 (good days :) ). I hope that they will fix game performance wise, missed the games like this.

They have :p

OMG you fooled me, evil witch!

......

Are they really different colours for EU and US though????

......

......

I promised I wouldnt be so easily gullible anymore since a long time ago when a girl managed to convince me that she was keeping a pet cow in her flat's garden / quad at uni .......

Wait, did I just tell people that again??? Ooooops,

After finishing the demo i feel like i want more and more and more :) Could spend all day playing the game :D It was too easy on Demo, and some NPC's were quite dull, especially mages, when they're about to cast a spell they freezes, and if they shoots the spell goes where they were aiming before, so it's too easy evading them. Maybe this all will improve with full version.

The graphics look real nice for this. Tiny bit generic but these are only from the demo so I expect locations and characters will get more varied in the full game.

What with this, Fallout New Vegas and Two Worlds two, there's some very decent RPGs to play in the next few months. :)

My internet broke whille the download was up to around 65% and its still broked :(

My 3G cant handle downloading anything larger than 50 mb, ad only has a 10 Gb limit anyway so now I have to wait.

Stupid Sky broadband keeps on failing, but its been ages since it last happened. T mobile 3G is much more reliable, but with crappy speeds.

I liked the demo... but the combat and performance really make me doubt whether I'll bother with the full game. The performance is really poor regardless of what settings you use. Turning everything off only nets you an extra 10 FPS. The combat is also way too easy and really redundant.

Such a shame too, because I love the atmosphere.

Found performance on a 1gb 5650 mobility to be surprisingly good, fps remained smooth in all areas of the demo, all settings were maxed except the main shadows setting which was at high instead of ultra and post processing at medium instead of high.

Looking forward to the full game.

Ran pretty well for me on full settings (shadows on 2nd highest) @ 1680x1050 on my 4870, the forest seemed a little slower but hardly noticeable when playing, still pretty smooth, only major slow down was when I stood right next to the waterfall at the cave, which is understandable.

Game was pretty fun apart from that annoying witch taking so long to form sentences, probably a buy from me depending on feedback of how the full game is handled. Was beginning to think there was nothing coming out for the remainder of the year that I was really interested in.

Oh and was it just me or is the smuggler guy the same voice actor who did Sidorovich (the trader) in stalker.

Wouldn't that frame rate be fine for an RPG?

I thought so but trust me on this 25/30fps in this game feels distinctly slow and laggy. Yet 35fps+ feels fine , very strange...

Apparantly the biggest hit on this game bar the post processing and SSAO is the resolution , people have lowered the rez to have much higher settings

I found zero difference fps wise with ssao or post processing on or off on the 5650 mobility, ran just as good either way, is it possibly something to do with dx11 cards vs dx9?

This ran well enough for me, and having played all the other Gothics, the control system seems to be Ten times better, almost too good. Seemed to have lost some of the atmosphere of the others though, perhaps it's just because of the starting area? Oh and that witch.... eh..eh..eh..eh...eh...eh.. omg stop!
