Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

any chance of returning this game because of a bug? in a sense its defective after all.

its unopened? so most places should take it back.

Not noticed any grx issues on the PS3 yet and I havent had any problems when pitting as I tend to run longer just in case

Heres a question for you guys knee deep in career mode. I wonder how realistic it is (comparing to current F1 season). What i mean is, have you got Lotus, Sauber and what not in the top 5 and getting P1, winning races?
Or do the big teams dominate and generally behave as expected? Is it harder to pass Hamilton than it is to pass Trulli for example?

Is the only main thing, the pitstops (which u can get round) in the actual race? (things like fuel load and punctures best to switch off because borked? ie too many punctures and AI cars driving as if with hardly any fuel all the time.)

Wow... Think some people thought different of this game lol.

As I have said, I agree, the bugs are bad and should have been ironed out... But they are surface rust if anything, will be and can be buffed out and underneath is a very good bloody game!

+1

It sure is shoddy that some glaring bugs are there, but most of them can be ignored/worked around, that's if you want to of course.

:)

I've so far done two career races, but actually played the race stage, of 12 laps over a few times due to either doing badly, or spinning out on the last lap with no replays left.

I don't know about passing the big players, but for example, by changing my pit strategy so that I pit later, I've found that you certainly notice when you've got the true race leaders baring down on you. They are a lot harder to defend against than people lower down the field.

I've not had a puncture yet.

Ive had a longer play today in career mode and im very pleased , ive just finished my first race in bahrain , i was trying a few different difficulty settings and think ive got it about right for my skill level.

I have AI drivers on intermediate and my settings on custom with most aids on apart from braking assist , i also have all damage and rules on full.

I struggle to do full races as my hands hurt after a while on the controller pad so have it set to about 20 laps a race.

The pit bug needs to be sorted as even though i changed my pit strategy by a lap it still screwed me up by about 3 places which i was ahead by a fair distance before i pitted.

People saying this is to easy on legend AI:eek: , Im finding it demanding on intermediate and im driving the tracks fairly well.

I finished bahrain in 14th as lotus having qualified 18th:).

Question.

Do the cars engines blow on this as they overheat?

also

My first race in career all 24 cars finished the race , not one dnf???

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

In time trial, trying to learn a track and see what the fastest time I can get so I know how I will do in qualifying... It's all cool.. Ooooops, clipped a kerb coming out a little too fast... Invalidated lap... Invalidated next lap????????????????

I keep getting this, WHY???????? It's driving me up the wall.....

Spin off, invalidated next lap? EH?

REALLY pathetic and annoying.

ive had a few punctures in races , very anoying.

Does qualifying work like irl that if you get a top 10 you go to the q3 top 10 shootout?

Yes.

I just made this hehe.

one more thing about qualfying if i start out and post a really fast lap does it get registered if i then do another lap and do worse?

so if i posted a fast lap and im happy with it would it be best to pit in.

basically do i lose my good lap time if i do another lap?

No, laptimes are based on the best lap, as in real life.

However, much like real life too, if you go out first and set a good lap, there is a good chance it may be beaten and you will have to rush out to set another one so you don't get dropped.

Been doing some Time Trailing today and im getting quite confident over the first 4 tracks. :) One thing i did find, when I switched to the T-Cam i was about 1second a lap quicker, the car feels more balanced and easier to control.

One thing that is a little disappointing is people are posting sub 1.40 times in the time trial thread, yet Alonso's pole is 1.45 today.

PC version is already seeing modders at work.

I'm currently doing a fresh career and I'm in Q1 and all the sector times are now showing.

I did have a wet P3 and I was following alonso that posted a 2.05 yet I was following him all the way around the track and did a 2.02 3 secs quicker, yet he was pulling away from me.

Its all messed up and this I feel is the reason why you can't hot seat into other cars to watch them during practice etc, as its all made up for the timing sheets.

however, I'm now using my DFGT as i've made up a mock stand to play on the PS3 version and this does help..

If anyone is using a PS3 pad though, get some real triggers, this can help with fingers aching and set the car to stable - it will help a lot. TCS and ABS for pad users really needs to be on, as it helps also..

not going to stop playing this game with all the faults, I'm sure a patch will be released, and F1 2011 will be even better..

Remember even EA sports takes a few goes to get right.. Guess this will as well...

Quite enjoying this. Playing in career mode with the Lotus, ABS off, Brake assist off, TC on medium for now.
I don't have a wheel for the XBOX so it's very very hard going on the hands and forearms!
The qualifying "issue" is not really an issue to be honest. The other cars are there for decoration and the lap times are generated independently. No big deal.
My Melbourne race was in heavy rain and when following cars closely you cannot see a thing. Very realistic, love the wet races.

Things I don't like:
The pit stop issue! My lollipop man at Malaysia held me for TWENTY SECONDS and I rejoined last (having been in 7th) I've been ignoring my engineer and coming in a lap later which is a temporary fix that works until they patch it.

Other cars seem to be able to "ghost" through you in the pits (I have also "ghosted" right through a car on track once as well.

I'm finding it frustrating at times but it's because of my own mistakes not the game.

I don't believe it, my saved data got corrupted and I have to start career again! Is this a common problem?

I always back up saves at the end of a session to memory card or usb, I've had so many problem games over the years I do it as a matter of course.

Plus as I said with a 7 year career do a save at the end of each year in different places so you can choose a different career path instead of starting again with lotus etc.

Christ some people are being overly critical of this, maybe it just got overhyped? But it's still a bloody good game which can be as challenging or arcadey as you like.

It is an awesome game, you have to remember though the critism is no different to what will happen to Fifa 11 when that comes out, fifa 10 was riddled with bugs and hardcore fans of a sport get frustrated sometimes with stupid things that should never have got through testing. Like the pitstop frustration, did they not play career mode in testing? The same goes with sector 3 times or being able to look at your team mates set up. They should have spent less time on developer diary videos and more time testing the bloody features :D

It is though a very good game and for £30 a definate keeper and day 1 purchase I'm happy with. After all I will be grinding this until the next one.

Here is any easy sure fire way to stop your car oversteering on the exit of a corner.

Just brake. Yep thats it. If you find yourself in a pickle and you have put a little too much throttle down on exiting a corner, dab the brakes, job done. (might try that on Forza later ) :)
