Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

So is this game just full of lol?

Seems such a shame, the last decent f1 game I played was the psygnosis one on the ps1.

Was really thinking of buying this but not now from what I have read.

I loved the first psygnosis game, especially the add on track that you got by pressing the buttons in a certain order. It was the outline of an f1 car, superb track.
Of the current game, while i,m having fun for sure, the fact it was released unfinished is complete (insert sweary here),very dissapointing, and frustrating, may as well be playing charades,(see what i did there, not lost my sense of humour,as frustrated as i am at times).
For the casual/semi casual console player, some maybe won,t care about being cheated ingame, many others may be more frustrated than i am,and this not only damages Codemasters reputation, but could have a knock on effect for future games console wise.
As dlc content is now readily available,as per pc gaming, some companies WILL take advantage,Mafia 2 anyone.

Well i was enjoying it till i read this forum :(
Im playing lotus and managed to come 2nd / 8th / 8th.

Spain / Singapore circuts have been hell for me to get round.

Q: How can you change how many pit stops you want to do?
Q: How can you copy your team mate setup?

I Personally think that most haters of this game are simply rFactor/iRacing or whatever addicts thinking thier beloved game is the best and only the best can drive well in them .

and the idea of a console game that is so realistic and could let every one get in the show and be competitve is making them quite upset , I'm not sure if you get my point but I sure hope so.

ofcourse there are some dissapointing bugs which hopefully can be patched but nevertheless the gameplay is very very satisfying and enjoyable for me, and that's what matters.
Nobody is saying they expect the game to be perfect, but I just came in for wets at Barcelona and my pit crew held me for TWENTY FIVE SECONDS. From 5th to last.
Sorry but that's just not satisfying or enjoyable, it's a mickey take.

Hmm, now I no why no demo came out because nobody would buy it, I said it would be crap and well it is judging from all the posts, people moaning about it rather then erm playing it.

Lol. Get a grip, the game is poor! I have never played either of those games you mention, but for an F1 game to be released this state is a joke! Codemasters have hoodwinked everyone with this game.

You both are becomming remarkably annoying.

Yes the game seems to have faults and while its too early to condemn the game or Codemasters yet, it will be amongst many games that also do release with bugs/issues or just wont completely satisfy people. By all means its right that people mention any issues the game has and Codemasters desserve a lot of flack for it but your comments do not mention many of the good things about it and your on a mission it seems.

The list of bugs is quite astonshing though and well I await to see what Codies do with it. Seems obvious this game was pushed for a release date regardless of its play testing.

You haven't played it?
Besides MW2 was released with a rake of flaws bugs and glitches and did that stop you enjoying the game. The difference is Codemasters have noted the problems and have said they will work on it. Infinity ward walked away rolling in money.

Try it you might like it.

No idea how you copy team mates setup

You can't it's another flaw.

My thoughts exactly.

Codemasters are acknowledged all the issues and have promised to look into them.

I know for a fact that CM were under massive pressure from FOM to get the game released now, so I'm not entirely surprised that there's issues, and some bits feel rushed.

As long as they try to sort through the issues, I still have faith in them.

Im intrigued as to how patches are applied to PS3 games ?

Downloaded, like any patch?

The game has faults, and is probably the most frustrating racing game I've ever played, but the way some people are rubbishing it is astounding. It's still by far the best F1 game ever released IMO, and hopefully some of the bugs can be sorted with patches. I've yet to see the pit stop bug though, mainly because I choose my own strategy.

I'm playing against legendary AI in the Lotus and can just about manage to stay midfield, but sometimes it's by the skin of my teeth in qualifying. This morning I pulled out a blinder on slicks at Melbourne just to scrape into Q2 as it was starting to chuck it down, and genuinely felt pressure from the cars around me. The following full-wet race was hairy stuff :o

Can someone explain how you drive without traction control?

I'm good with it on but I'm literally finding it impossible with it off. It seems with this game when you tap the accelerator it goes full throttle so your back end just spins out every corner unless you go 5mph around it..

Thanks for that.

Its brightened my Sunday morning up no end.

I'm in two minds with this game. I can't stand F1. I find it the most boring sport there is, along with cricket. But its a Racing game and it does look good.

Quite shocked by the amount of bugs people are reporting though. I have good faith that they will get sorted but I can't believe they messed it up so bad.

Its not like they have 500 cars and all the other features that racing games have these days.

They only have 1 racing series to get right and by the sounds of it its unplayable.

From my experience on the game, try and go through a corner with some sort of throttle and don't give it full throttle until you are going in a straight line.
Never give it full beans whilst turning or you will oversteer like ****:p.

I'm still slightly confused by this scripting talk to be honest. I just look at the white dots on the mini map to see how far ahead, behind I am. I don't use the times of the 4 or so cars shown in the top left. I guess on longer races (I do 3 laps) you would refer to those times to plan pit stops etc, so they need to be correct. But for short races it is a non issue to me.

Also, unless I am mistaken it has no effect on online racing? I have played 90% online so far. I will do the F1 championship offline at some point, but, like many other games, I want to enjoy the online while there is still a large playerbase and minimum hacks/cheats/boosters, as there will be at some point (like in most games). At that point I will play SP and hope some of these flaws have been patched.

The Codemasters forums say they are having a meeting on Monday to discuss the game. Whether it is to address the flaws or to rub their hands about how much money they have made in less than 1 week, I am uncertain :)

I've so far done two career races, but actually played the race stage, of 12 laps over a few times due to either doing badly, or spinning out on the last lap with no replays left.

I don't know about passing the big players, but for example, by changing my pit strategy so that I pit later, I've found that you certainly notice when you've got the true race leaders baring down on you. They are a lot harder to defend against than people lower down the field.

I've not had a puncture yet.

The problem i see is that it seems easy enough(from people on here) to finish top 5, P1, win the race from HRT, Lotus cars.

Sorry but that to me is crazy unrealistic :/

A Mclaren or Ferrari should have more pace than a Lotus. Is it the ai level? If i put AI level hard or legendary then i wouldnt be able to outpace a Ferrari in a HRT yeah?

And I still can't believe this isn't more moaning about the damage on the cars. It's pretty bad especially if you consider Hamiltons last crash where he bumped into another car slightly and snapped his front suspension ending his race.

I still love the game though and no doubt will have many more hours on it.

Can someone please confirm if slip streaming is working? It isn't for me. Another thing I noticed was Trulli pitted and I was 22 seconds ahead when he came back out.
He then proceeded to do the same lap times as Vettel and within 5 laps he was on my gearbox then started lapping at a backmarkers pace.
I personally think they ran out of time tbh because stuff like this should have come up in Q&A. I am getting used to the actual driving but the bugs are spoiling the game for me.

Nope, there is no slipstreaming at all in the game.
