Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

I think there is something clearly wrong with the data displayed, which is perhaps the case with the slipstreaming effect already discussed.

Just had an absolute brilliant race. 5th place finish, would have got a podium had my nerve not been rattled leaving the pits, over did it a bit. Got some downforce upgrades for that so hopefully I can start to see some more from the car. :)

Had about 8 laps with Rosberg ahead of me in 4th and Alonso all over the back of me. I don't think I blinked for 14 minutes.

TBH codemasters will patch the pitstop and 3rd sector timing bugs etc....

Can't help feel codemasters were a bit between a rock and a hard place with this title. The core of the game, tracks, car models, graphics and presentation are up there and are well worthy of everyones praise..

the AI however is a tad stupid, and lots of this game needs working on. Blue flags and qualify needing work, but I think the biggest thing after that codemasters need to give this game some TV F1 feel.... It's an arcade game, so might as well make it look and feel like watching F1 on TV and include proper replay and all the razzle of F1 as well...

I've played a few of the tracks now in pro level both with a wheel and a pad, and underneath all the problems, racing around Australia in the wet is frightening, and racing to the edge of the barriers in Monaco is exhilarating It's enough to allow me to ignore everything else.

Anyhow, I paid £31 for it on my credit card (wink lol) so i'm going to play it and for those saying its too easy - must have god like driving skills..

I'm playing a 7 year career on the PS3, in a lotus and my best finish so far provided I stop 2 laps after I'm told to pit to overcome the pit stop bug has been mid field in 12 - 17th... Qualify has been 10th.. i'm mostly 3 seconds of the pace and that's quite a challenge for pro level IMO.

Just hoping for a patch...

Haven't noticed any of these "Bugs". Have played only Career. 12 races in. All assists on apart from Braking assist. AI on Intermediate. Had a few podiums. Found it too easy with Lotus so put AI to Professional and struggled. 18th, 20th, 22th etc.

Loving every minute of it. It's a fantastic game, there are a few bugs such as coming into the pits, it's very jerky but overall I don't have any problem with it.

Haven't noticed the Qualy "bug" but I only pay attention to my own times and try to beat the times which the data tells me. Don't care if the cars on the track are not actual lap times, yeah it would make it more realistic but it's not a big deal. Only weirdos who desire such attention to detail will moan and whine.

I'm the same as you in Career mode (no gadgets) Just finished race 7 and I'm finding it brutally hard but can see it's just about beating Jarno and nabbing car upgrades for now.

I was doing well until Spain and Monaco but got some pace back at Turkey.

Yeah It has niggles at I pit very late but when you get a good race it's about as good a racing game for precision that I've played in a long while.

Ok i'm praticing round China in time trial and it says invalidated next lap for simply going off the track and losing time. What the hell.

The ABS is another one I've encountered in career mode. You have ABS selected off and when you do an R and D challenge you 'drive out' which puts ABS back on even if you selected it off.

I don't get it in any other session because I normally select to start on sector 1 or flying lap.

Having just finished the first TT from this weekends Singapore GP.

Some points to mention on my thoughts.
At the start it was quite difficult to get used to the game.
For example what was challenging was certain kerbs in the track would throw the car into a spin if ridden. Later I discovered with varying setup changes to my car that I could then ride these kerbs better.

The "Invalid Lap" for just scraping a wall or going a little wide or slightly cutting a corner is maybe harsh but after getting more used to the track its actually a good thing.
Why, well it stops wallriding some games have been famous for and people taking a shortcut. It also means you have to adopt a high level of accuracy in your driving. This game definately requires full attention when bombing down the track.

I could feel a difference to the feel of the car in changing the "Aero" and visibly racing a ghost see various changes altering my acceleration. While not all changes made in setup immediately showed or felt much different. Many changes did let me improve the handling of the car. I think the game still could increase the FFB and feel of grip from the car. Brakes could also be improved more in their feel and bumps or road surface should perhaps vibrate the wheel more imo.

It seems from this first TT that "Wheel" players are able to do faster times than "Pad" players. Although this is not yet fully conclusive the top 4 in this first TT were all wheel users.

The feel of the game has a lot of potential and while it seems it can be quite difficult and challenging with all aids off it also can feel very rewarding when you are actually driving well and get a setup thats working well. One thing though, it is still very easy in this game to overdrive and make a mistake falling victim of tyre lock up, a spin or the "Invalid Lap" penalty system.

Based on this TT Id rate this as one of the more challenging racing games to drive with all aids off and thats a nice surprise. Its a shame though they couldnt muster 60 fps with a full grid of cars or allow a 60fps mode if doing qualifying etc.

Yet to start a career myself as quite happy tinkering in TT mode and messing around with setups. Trying to lean more in how to adjust the cars for better handling and more speed.

It seems that if you attack the right kerbs you get a good lap time. Reason I say this is if you overattack, you spin. Liking this more and more.

If you go off hard enough once it invalidates the current lap. Go off again and it invalidates the next lap. I was driving round Monaco for about 45 minutes in the wet last night in TT mode and didn't post a single lap time :D

Playing with all aids off now and really liking the knife edge feel the car has (TT in the Ferrari F10)

Quite like the new S.Korea track as well, has some nice high speed direction changes.

Actually, it only invalidates the next lap if you go off towards the end of the lap (possibly the last sector), you can go of as many times as you want before then, it only tells you the first time you invalidate the lap, the rest is ignored, unless you do it in the last sector when it then tells you the next lap is invalidated.

It seems fair enough, but the Singapore circuit is just that tricky because the walls mean making a mistake in the last sector is so easy.

Picked this up yesterday, not really liked F1 games since Geoff Crammonds GP

Have to say, I am impressed, looks and sounds great, and love the way it's tied together.

only one small gripe, there seems to be a delay when I press the brake or accelerator. Steering seems fine though.

Got brake assist off, but still got Traction control on, tried it without and ended up spinnning a lot! :)

Well, just got a slap in the face yet again...

In 6th position on the grid (career mode), change my pit stop tactics prior to race so I'm on hard compound (was a heavy rain qualy), and on lap 9 change to soft compound, 13 lap race.

Anyway, I'm in 4th by the 8th lap, come into the pit's on the 9th, still 4th, 16 seconds... Was shunted down to 21st...

I just turned the console off, cba doing the entire race again.

So what is this problem people are talking about, lollipop man keeping you in the pits too long?

Picked this up at the weekend and am really disappointed.

Bugs everywhere, crap handling which is about as smooth as falling downstairs in a wheelchair, dumb AI - especially in qualifying where people coming out of the pits when you're on a flyer will get right in your way. I did a career race in China last night which Barrichello won by 23 seconds because he didn't pit.

Yep. You can't get out of the pits until there is no one coming down the pitlane behind you - regardless of how far away they are.

Normally means a pitstop which should be 3 seconds takes about 10-15. Yesterday I came in 3rd, went out 22nd
