Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

Yep. You can't get out of the pits until there is no one coming down the pitlane behind you - regardless of how far away they are.

Normally means a pitstop which should be 3 seconds takes about 10-15. Yesterday I came in 3rd, went out 22nd

Codemasters say either ignore the pit call, change the compound or change strategy to pit earlier/later.

Does that work?

Indeed, this bug is really starting to "hack me off", i've got a list of problems this game has and it makes quite sorry reading, clearly codemasters had huge pressure to release the title and its simply not finished, bugs aside who thought releasing an F1 game without the warmup lap, safety car and podium in was a good idea?

Looking back at the pitstop issue, if this game has any grounding in real F1 we shouldn't even be in the final pit garage anyways iirc.

You have to pit at some point though, and if anyone else is doing so at the same time you will get shafted. Which on short races, is pretty much every single race.

Lets see what they come up with, do you remember Ferrari Challenge releasing with broken online/multiplayer and not having as many cars as advertised on the box. Quite often games need patched and partly yes Id think developers are aware of problems releasing but run out of time and really they shouldnt be able to get away with that.

You dont have to buy another Codemasters game ever again if you feel so annoyed. I as already stated also blame the gaming media and reviews none of this was picked up on. Developers shouldnt get away with bugged games being reviewed and a blind eye turned to "issues" the game has.

As for no warm up, safety car or podium. Many previous F1 games didnt have all or in some cases any of those either.

The pit bug is anoying but it will get fixed , i find if i change my default strategy by minus or plus a lap i still end up losing a couple of places.
But this could be that i made the odd mistake but even so the cars i was racing around before i pitted in this case 11th and 10th positions , after everyone else had pitted i only managed to regain 12th and all the cars ahead were a good 10 seconds ahead , surely i did not make that big of mistakes to let them get that much ahead?

I didn't expect much being a Codemasters game, and it hasn't even lived up to those meagre standards.

They should count themselves lucky that patches are easily delivered these days. I remember F1 '95 on the PS1, where if you did a race long enough that you needed to pit for fuel, you'd never win as David Coulthard and Johnny Herbert never, ever, pitted.

It’s a valid point that the games going to get patched and I think its going to be much better for it, many of the fundamentals are in place to make a great game but I can't help but think that Codemasters spent 75% of the development time making it look great then the rest thinking about how the games actually going to work.

I've got no idea why none of the reviews picked up these glaring obvious game errors / emissions, since the gaming community picked them up within the first 5 mins of playing I can only conclude some deals have been done with the media to keep them silent about the games real issue pre launch.

As for the safety car etc issues, well the game (in my mind) was billed as an all encompassing F1 game, so I’d expect these race basics to be thought about before they started messing around with stuff like press interviews, which add very little to the game.

Someone answer me a question..

I'm playing through my first career at 20% distance for the poor tracks, but how come practice still takes 1hr 30mins?

Not sure I can afford to play for 2hrs at a time just to get to the qualy. I've even tried setting it to "short race weekend" and still have to do the first practice at full length.

Still haven't got past Bahrain because I hate the track! Ended up online racing with mates.

I'm thinking about doing that just so i don't get caught out again, console almost went out the window the second time it happened, i'd worked my bottom off to get into pole from 10th after 5 laps only to get stuck back to 24th, GRR!

Do a few laps then either skip to the next session or fast forward the session to the end?

yes it does but it's hardly the point.

I hear that they're meeting to day to discuss a possible patch..

if they announce they are doing a patch but it will take 2 months then i cant be arsed with that level of incompetence. Will return mine to who i bought it from under distance selling regulations 7 day no quibble return.

or ill trade it in think i can get £25 or £28 at the moment! (which is only a few quid down on the £31 i paid)

:( you would think they would have been working on it for the last couple of weeks

I'm going to give it another shot... If I get any more than 5 places behind after a pit stop. I like most, will put this down until news of a patch.

a lot of cars pit at different stages during a race the most ive seen in the pit at any one time is about 6 or 7 cars.

I had a good race at melbourne yesterday in career i was in lotus and managed to catch up with 11th and 10th cars which who i was fighting out with before i pitted.
Got up behind button and somehow i went into a spin , i thought i was on for my first point of the season:(

There is some serious rubber banding in this.

I qualified on pole with a lap time of 1.20.5. Nearest to me at Montreal was a second away at 1.21.5. Started the race and pulled out 3 seconds on the first lap. I could consistently be at 1.21 lap after lap bettering the 2nd place mans grid time.

Yet there he is sat on my tail for 14 laps. I was putting in fastest lap after fastest lap and if he dropped back a second or two the next lap he would come back at me.

Monteal though is pure win, very easy to attack the corners hard. First career win, pole and topped the practice. Who shows an interest Torro Rosso :(

I remember the pain with Crammonds GP games - always buggy as hell, always a month or so wait to fix bugs.

I've held off buying this atm - will buy it once the bugs are fixed, provided they are fixed to a satisfactory standard.

Can you return a video game under the premise of it being "unfit for purpose"?

Would depend...in this case possibly not as the game still plays and the bugs dont break the game - they break the F1 experience though imo. This is an F1 game. So perhaps under false advertising but you would need some good detailed arguments looking at all aspects of consumer law.

The problem with the industry is there is no one who fights the video game consumers corner. So the only force fighting against the publishers is bad press or reputation.

Also there is no precedent for situations like this in the video gaming market. (afaik) If there was it would be so much easier for the consumer for their rights to be upheld.

basically its a carte blanche situation for the publishers at the moment...i wait for the day when i can fight back against the capitalists with my proletarian brethren :D
