If this is on a motorway then not a problem, if it was an A road for example there's no point because as soon as you get to any traffic and need to slow down the emergency vehicle will catch you straight back up and now you'll be in their way. There are moments when the police are just on patrol, and are not trying to get somewhere quickly, they are allowed to go slowly and you are allowed to overtake them.
But I always wonder if I'm allowed to overtake fire engines and ambulances when they have the blues going, I often do (mostly up hills, they have trouble with all the weight)
thats not an excuse, its an description of their behavour/driving style. its not tailgating, its M&S tailgating. extremely close, dropping back, catching up quickly again, all unnecessarily, which my reaction to is "stupid sod cant drive, im getting away from them before they cause an accident due to their lack of driving ability"I have really never understood this excuse: in what way were they "baiting you to race"? Tailgating? The world is full of tailgaters. I'll gloss over the fact that cars always look closer looking back than looking forwards. And the fact that cop cars tend to zoom in close for a look at the occupants, stay there until the PNC check is done, then drop back or pass. What exactly is your attitude to other road users that a) you notice "baiting to race", and b) care about it? Even if they sit next to you at the light revving their engine, why should you care? I seriously don't understand this comment. I also notice that the people who claim it happens to them, claim it happens a lot. I'm reminded about the old joke about what all your failed relationships have in common.

, random or what? when I first got my HGT a short while ago got pulled over on the way back from me mates house in Newcastle and the officer asked me 'what I was doing on the road that night...?', what sort of a question is that?!pretty much not a fan of the police at all to be honest, got pulled of them twice in the space of a month, the first time was driving along at 70MPH on a 70MPH dual carriageway minding my own business, pulled over and asked if I was insured, the second time had me baffled for about three days, pulled over and some copper came alongside me driver window and calmly asked me if I had seen a bloked in a grey hooded jacket..., random or what? when I first got my HGT a short while ago got pulled over on the way back from me mates house in Newcastle and the officer asked me 'what I was doing on the road that night...?', what sort of a question is that?!
Its fairly easy to not spot an unmarked car, and none of the 4 considered me to be driving dangerously or they would have pulled me no?
You do realise these are all fairly normal things for a Police officer to do?
also the one driving along a dual carriageway and getting asked if I have seen a bloke in a grey hooded jacket..? course I haven't Im paying attention to whats infront of me not people walking along the path..! failing to see how those could be considered 'normal' for any reason..?Not reallypulled over and some copper came alongside me driver window and calmly asked me if I had seen a bloked in a grey hooded jacket..., random or what?

lol, really? why pull someone up late at night driving home in his Punto with a mate and ask them what they are doing, isn't that a tad obvious?also the one driving along a dual carriageway and getting asked if I have seen a bloke in a grey hooded jacket..? course I haven't Im paying attention to whats infront of me not people walking along the path..! failing to see how those could be considered 'normal' for any reason..?
but isnt going over 60mph on a sliproad illegal or something?
What right does a policeman have to ask you what you are doing? Last time I looked, driving around is a legal thing providing you are taxed, insured etc.You do realise these are all fairly normal things for a Police officer to do?
