HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Magic>Hero
Hero>Desire

?

Similar jumps. Alhough I agree it doesn't seem much of a jump over the HD2 which is coming up to a year old (hardware wise).

I'm curious to know what it is you do that gives out a bonus for not having an accident at work?

I can't help but think waiting a bit longer is the best course of action. The HD seems a bit too much like a refresh of last years phones? I.e. the upgrade from a HTC Magic to Desire is huge. The Desire to this? Not so much. Plus I'm quite excited to see what Tegra 2 offers in phones.

I drive a lorry, nothing special.

I've got a couple of sales lead payouts to come too before christmas as well apparently, but they could be anything from £1 to £200 so I'm not counting them.

I phoned up Voda about 2 weeks ago and they said I could have it for free (£30 for 24 months, £35 for 18 months). Insurance is £10 :(

For insurance, get a lloyds bank silver account. It's 7.99 and covers your phone plus you get aa cover for your car and European travel insurance :)

Wish my z would hurry the hell up, I want my new toy!

I am a service engineer and we get a bonus for not having an accident as well.

I don't know why I just thought of it as a bit odd. It's like a bonus for not doing your job badly instead of doing your job well? I know you get the same result regarding accidents but one sets a hard target while the other has the same hard target but encourages you to do better than that?

Anyway, back to phones!

Accidents are pretty inconvenient to truck drivers. And as you can't do better than 0 accidents it seems to make perfect sense to me :p

the soon er some review units get out the better. I like this phone but its due out in 9 days and still there is little hands on out there!

be nice if bloomin vodafone..their supposed partners could update their website with contract details as well

Do you reckon there will be better deals on the Desire when the HD hits the shops? I'm mad keen to buy now and waiting impatiently.

Mobiles.co.uk have the vodafone prices up!

Best deal I can see for the Z is.
£28pm | Free Desire Z | 500 mins | unlimited txts | 1GB internet
(After redemption + quidco)

Edit: the HD is £30pm for the same contract/free phone.

Not bad for release prices!

I don't understand these reseller websites. Obviously they're only able to offer these contracts at reduced prices because the networks sell them to them for even less - so why don't the networks simply cut out the middleman and offer lower prices themselves?

Because the vast majority of people cant be bothered with pac codes and the like and just upgrade to whatever when their contract is up. So why should the networks charge less when 95% of people just pay what they are asked.

But that's precisely it - the networks are losing money by going through these resellers!

Not really, like I said, some people are keen on bargin hunting and changing networks etc, these places cater to this.

Some people prefer dealing directly with the networks as they distrust the other resellers, why would they reduce the prices of their contracts when the vast majority of people just upgrade with the network when its time.

I just think that instead of giving a proportion of their contracts to resellers and thereby lose a lot of money on them (cause they're going for less than the network's price, and the reseller has to make a profit too), they could use that money to lop off a bit off their own contracts and lure all the bargain hunters THAT way!

The only conceivable use for it would be if a reseller could bundle the contract with a particular model of phone which the network does not have an agreement to sell, but I've never seen that so far - certainly when I bought a contract through one of those my phone came with Orange branding, so presumably the resellers don't buy the phones separately.

Don't they rely on people to not bother with the rebates or miss the rebate deadlines?
