Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

think i need to up the ai difficulty, a lotus on pole for the first time in a while :p

how do i jump to the end of a quali session? ie, ive posted a time in Q1 how do i skip to Q2?

Surfer - i notice you mention you have the Logitech DF Wireless wheel - i was thinking of purchasing but just wanted to check how you do manual gears with this wheel.

I have read the paddles are for gas/brake - are there others for the gears and if so how does this work?

^^ epic sig, love it :)

Oh, and i think the game is great. regardless of it's faults (many of which I'm sure Codies will sort at some point..)

I am wondering whether to bother commenting anymore as i can see the issue this thread/game is suffering.
Any racers worth anything will/would be commenting on the physics of the game & not minor issues that can be worked around.
I am on my 2nd season & haven't had any issues that have effected my gaming experience.
All i can hope is that Codemasters ignore the community that shouts out for things like sector times for Ai & carrys on concentrating on giving Me great physics & a superb F1 like experience.

I for one am loving the game & for a 1.0 version of this gaming series it's ******* brilliant.

Yes but times are also important.

A proper "Time Trial" or "Race" event should have standings at the end of each played.
A track should be split in sectors just as the real ones are. It is an important part of the sport but also would be much better for adapting your tuning.

You can then cleary see what sectors you are gaining or losing time. Yes a ghost car may be fine for showing someone elses lap but a table with all participants sectors shouldnt of been a hard thing to include.

If GT5 has it then other developers should look to also include it too and tbh any sim based title should have such.

Things like split times, sector times, final times, average, fastest lap and highest top speed are all part of racing and useful info for "racing games"
Why developers dont seem to realise things like this are what fans would like to compare thier races and certainly more useful than boring press conferences. Really its beyond me.

For those interested we have started in the seperate thread the 2nd TT @ Suzuka
Your welcome to join

Well, this is half way through my first season. Wasn't sure if I'd get offers by anyone at the end of the season, and certainly knew there wouldn't be one from one of the biggies, so decided to stay loyal to lotus until a biggy is interested.

6.5 million a year isn't bad for lotus. Shame I can't spend it :p

Well said.

DF GT has both paddle shifters and the sequential gear knob.
Paddles in most games can be programmed to operate as gears or I guess throttle/brake if you didnt want to use the pedals.

Timings are important, other cars are important... its F1.. for goodness sake.

They did the sector times for qualifying why cant they do them in that level of detail for the actual race (and who got the fastest lap).

Anyway, i was doing Bahrain and i notice smt a bit weird during practice it was raining so times were smt like 1.32 and yet during qualification when it was dry lap times were 1.31. Why are they so similar? Felt like smt was going on there.

Other than that racing was quite fun and i learned how to start quicker. Still find it really difficult to pass cars because i am barely holding onto control of the car at race pace but i also have to navigate round the cars too - this wheel doesnt fill me with confidence to make these movements.

Feels quite twitchy. Its not bad but if i had more money i wouldve got a better one. Im using auto gears but you can reconfigure it. So if you want the paddles to be gears then you can change that. However the only other buttons that are within touching distance without moving your hands from the wheel are maybe R1 and L1 which are on the inside.

WAIT sorry i shouldve said - the paddles work well for brake and accelerate because they arent analogue(that right word?) ie its not on or off.

But if you change it so that the paddles are the gears then afaik there is no other buttons which offer the same level of responsiveness.

In my opinion it is impossible to look past the fact that the Pit system is inherently flawed. I have completed one race weekend since owning the game, and while it is a good game at its core, the fact that a pit stop can cost you numerous positions because someone had left their garage at the opposite end of the pit lane is ludicrous. How can I be expected to invest 30mins+ in a race before pitting if when I do it could ruin the race for me?

And sure, some people are going to argue that they haven't noticed this and it doesn't bother them (therefore it's ok!!!!!11eleventy) well I am still free to voice my opinion. It is meant to be an F1 simulation and it does that pretty well up to the point it slaps you around a bit with a trout in the pit lane. I will be waiting for a patch before I invest more time on a race only to find my early efforts dashed by a flawed rule implementation.

[out of thread until some information more useful other than "well don't play it/post here" is posted]

Yes, the pit lane is hugely annoying, but set your own pit strategy right and you can decrease or even solve the problem. I usually pit early, then I'm either in the pits on my own, or with a couple of other cars max.
