Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

Oh and again, this game is about putting the time in.

I've just done my 3rd career weekend at Malaysia. Was terrible when I started, but after putting in a lot of laps in all 3 practice sessions, I'd finally got it dialed by the race.

I decided to see how I was doing on the same track online and have just won the last three races, so I guess properly learning the tracks is essential.

Codemasters have just announced a thread which they will update with the status of the patch:

This bit doesnt fill me with confidence in their abilities at all

It will take some time

So probably 2 or 3 months. This means the developers and "testing" team (haha!) didnt know about the majority of the bugs the consumers found out within 2 days of the game...

That is shocking.

doing my 2nd race of the season at australia, finished 10th in my first race for lotus, quali 6th in 2nd. got ai on 1 down from top.

how do you set your own pit stratergy?

Whats your gadget set up to be doing that well so soon

Go to tyres, select strategy at the bottom and edit stop. I always now go for the upper limit of the tyre wear. So if it's an option and the wear limit is 9 laps I pit on lap 9. This guarentees no one comes in around me.

I'm in love with this game, love how rewarding it is now I've some miles under me.

Tried the borrowed wheel and considering I've never used one before I was 1.5 seconds up within 5 laps on my best times with the pad. This game rewards precision so much the turn in on the wheel and lack of zig zagging made it much faster. One area I was quicker on the pad was extreme breaking, I could break later on the pad turn in a quickly bring the car around rapidly dabbing the breaks on the pad.

The sense of speed and feeling of being on the limit is blowing me away track after track. Rubber banding is getting on my nerves now but as I'm more consistent (rarely using the rewind at all and pumping laps in within a second of each other for 10 laps) I have grown to love this more and more.

2nd at valencia couldn't live with hamilton but pushed him hard for 10 laps to finish 5 seconds adrift.

I'm presuming you did 3 year career?

My reckoning is the longer career you do, the fewer teams you have to pick from. Force India wasn't an option for me anyway.

I actually looked in the back of the manual in the credits to check that they did actually have play testers. They had a sizable Q&R team, so I don't know whether they were sleeping instead of actually play testing the game.

Completed my first race last night. Qualified 11th in the Lotus but took a 5 place grid penalty for causing a collision in practice. Beat my team mate but finished 23rd overall, lol.

Things I like:

- Great Physics, ability to turn the aids off is brilliant and I am loving manual gears
- Tracks are fantastically detailed
- Most of the key F1 technical aspects are in there

Things I don't like:

- Liuzzi won the first race, wtf?
- I easily qualified 11th in a Lotus, wtf?

Great great game though

If you play the game at just 20% duration than obviously the pit lane is gonna be a lot more congested than in a real life race.
For more realism in the pit lane, try playing a 100% duration game :)

My god I'm crap at this!

My only issue: overtaking top players while they are in the pits - my engineer keeps telling me that it was a great overtake! :)

Hmmm can anyone tell me why whilst playing a career on "Hard" as a Lotus driver I have topped the time sheets in every practice session (all purple sectors), got the fastest time in every qualifying session (again all purple sectors) and won every race so far, after only 3 rounds with all aids off ... how is this possible with a Lotus  am I missing something here ..?

Should I have the AI on Legends not Professional possibly, that's all I can think of ..

wow you guys are all pretty much Pros at this game. Heck i only put in a decent lap once i learn the circuit and because im in a HRT the top team whup my ass on straights easy! I'm finding it challenging on intermediate level (before professional).

Lot of jedi F1 pros on here :p

Depends though if you are using a wheel or gamepad .... what are you using?

Oh ok, I have it on Legends now with no aids on and have just completed 2nd Practice and am 1st on the time sheets again although a LOT closer than before, only +0.483 infront of 2nd place instead of 3-4 seconds as before lol.

A LOT more enjoyable now I have to say .. with a wheel also, think it makes it a LOT easier that a gamepad.
