That is most definitely a Fly Agaric, an extreme Hallucinogen.

It's nowhere near extreme (unlike Psilocybin whioch is in real magic mushrooms) - the most you will get is a lucid dream and a lot of tummy ache - the only reason it is still leagl to buy as a rubbish leagl high.
Since April 2005 it has been illegal to pick or possess mushrooms of the genus Psilocybe. This legislation does not affect the genus Amanita muscaria (Fly Agaic). However, the preparation of hallucinogenic mushrooms in any way, i.e. dried, crushed, cooked, or brewed into tea, causes them to become a Class A drug. The penalties for possession or supply of a Class A drug are severe.
Agreed. Just before the law changed they were cheap as chips, in fact they were cheaper than chips. Good times.they should never have made the other mushrooms illegal in the first place, it was a total farce, but that's another story!
Arent these class B or something once you have picked them?
Edit:
Looks like your fine as long as you dont dry, cook, crush, cook or brew it![]()
Fungus (of any kind) which contains psilocin or an ester of psilocin
is a Class A controlled drug, no ifs or buts.

Given that whoever you quoted there doesn't know UK law I'd be inclined to ignore your advice for a number of reasons...
His edit is actually correct. Unless prepared as food, or dried, etc, this particular mushroom is perfectly legal.
