High Octane Unleaded?

I have just got a copy of EN228:2008 which supersedes EN228:2004.

One of the key changes is :

'Premium unleaded petrol' becomes 'unleaded petrol'.

I guess most forecourts now just say Unleaded too - not that I have actually looked.

In NAME only, the MARKING stays as Premium still, as seen in Figure NB.1 on page 13

What I don't get is why the OP didn't look at the price list, which is usually on the pump's display, and pick the cheaper fuel?

Now can someone tell me the cetane rating of Shell's V-Power diesel, and how that compares to their other diesel, and which ECUs can take advantage of it, if any?

jesus christ lol
Mike how can you argue for this length of time. I dont even see what is to argue, everyone knows that petrol is always called premium if its 95. although admittedly i thought it was as the brands didnt what there "standard" fuel to seem to be of low quality. i didnt realise it was down to actual legislation blah blah

Completely uninterestingly, the back page of my BMW manual says:

"Recommended fuel grade: Super unleaded (95 RON/85 MON)
With OE Regular unleaded (RON 91): Regular (91 RON/82.5 MON)"

So, should I stick super or premium in it?

(I'm really really sorry about the thread resurrection. Please don't hurt me).

Which BMW is it? It sounds like an older one as mine is worded differently and encourages the use of 98 RON fuel IIRC.

What about BS228 though as that's what was quoted?

I'm seeing the same document as Simon, its written on Page 5, but further down it also has a section on pump markings, which is what was quoted earlier - seems contradictory to me

I also don't see anything other than the 95RON naming convention, so I guess you could call both 97 and 99 Super if you so chose
