Juts literally been told my finacee has been granted a Finacee visa for England :D Although they have a small **** up by making it valid from 24 September instead of 24 October like requested:rolleyes: Still what can you expect we only paid 700 GBP

Anyway I would like to say thanks to a few OCUK ers who helped me with advice in particular a guy who actually is/was a ECO officer. Unfortunately had to deal and get so many things together the names on here escape me.

If anyone else needs any advice on this then just ask away. A general piece of advice never ever assume getting a copy of bank statements is going to be easy because trust me it isn't. Nearly had a break down getting those:p

To say i'm happy is a understatement just a samll matter of a wedding to plan in 5 months now

Your thread links are both to the same thread.

Im heading back to the UK soon and im looking at getting my GF a UK visitors visa.

6 Month test drive as my brother so kindly called it. Only thing is she cant work in the UK and I will have to sponser her so if it goes **** up ive got to make sure she leaves the country or i could be in trouble.

My boss went through this with his chinese wife and basically said it was a nightmare.

One thing he did say though was that finacee visa was an extra un-needed step, marry them outside the UK then get a married visa afterwards, followed by settlement visa.

Not excatly romantic i know but thats how he sees these things. cost effective soloution.

Anyway I wish you luck, and who knows maybe ill be asking your advice in the future.

Congrats! I just got mine as well, though I'm a fair bit further down the process than you.

I just got my 3rd visa, which is for Indefinite Leave to Remain. Next summer is my last one which is dual citizenship. (Canadian/British)

I hope this works out for you although it doesn't sound like you expect it to.

Congrats OP :)

I'm getting married to my American Fiancee two weeks today in Arizona, visa applications are a costly bureaucratic joke.

Great news, my American wife recently got her indefinite leave to remain visa - was a long and expensive process but it's all turned out nicely :)
If you ever need any info feel free to ask.

Wouldnt say that, but I am wary of a big change to her life. moving to the other side of the world where you know nobody except me, cant get a job and are 100% reliant on your partner is going to be a challange.

That and my work moves me around allot so it could be a problem if i end up somewhere i cant take her with me like the middle east.

Im trying to be positive but at the same time keep my eyes open to the challanges.

God cant belive im posting about my relationship on here, something i swore id never do

Glad to hera this,
We had no issues with the fiancee visa, our probelms all started with the 2year leave to remain visa, which was stalled by the staffmember thinking Ni wasn't part of the Uk anymore. (kid you not)
Our indefinite leave to remain visa came back exceptionally prompty, it went to the liverpool office and was perocessed no problems, the middle one was our only issue.

As for the visa start date, it starts from when it is granted, not when you ask, so that is no error on their part. Thats by deisgn.
Good luck with the wedding.

congrats, we went through the same visa process, wifes a yank, we got married in the UK and she lived there for 2 years then we decided that, instead of her doing her final bit for permenant residency, we should move to the US. To be honest it was fairly straight forward, i remeber she got her residency visa 3 days after she applied for it.
Luckly she had been in the UK on a student visa before that and this counted towards her time in the UK, so if we would have stayed in the UK she could also have applied for citizenship at the same time as her permenant visa.

Now compaire that to what i had to do to get my US visa.... grrrrr.

it is when you tell them to make it valid from x date, like they say to on the application form! Either way we're just happy to get the visa.
