How on earth is circumcision legal?

We were having a discussion about this earlier. How on earth is circumcision, the act of slicing of part of the penis legal?

(Obviously on young children)

I'm not talking about a person who choses to messup their body, rather the fact that parents get it done on children :/

Surely the childs right not to be mutilated is greater than for whatever reasons the parents wants it done?

p.s I understand issues such as phimosis or whatever means that it may need to be done and thats fair enough, however there are not any real health benefits to it.

Phimosis is where the skin of four can't stretch over your bicycle helmet.

Otherwise known as your cattle prod being too big by those who search for a more flattering term.

Know someone who had it who then walked about in pain for weeks after treatment (circumcision). Surprised it's allowed on children.

Assuming he's not just bragging, I think that's called Phimosis. Although it's usually said that the foreskin is too small rather than the penis too big.

I had phimosis, got circumcised at 4yrs old. It's not affected my life in any negative way.

How was it diagnosed at that age? It's normal for it not to be fully retractable until a good few years later.

Not sure how old I was, but its cleaner, and my wife says I have a pretty willy!

I knew someone who paid to have it done privately because his girlfriend preferred it, she left him about a month later and he never actually sex with her after the operation!

Definitely cleaner (more easily at least) and my girlfriend has the same view
