Hi guys I recently purchased my Q6600 G0 from MM and I am very pleased with it. I am currently running [email protected] (stock speed). However I have a question regarding the Cores temps difference.

Cpu Idle:

Core0 35C
Core1 34C
Core2 27C
Core3 33C

Cpu Load (Prime 95):

Core0 52C
Core1 50C
Core2 47C
Core3 48C

Core2 seems to be the odd one out especially at idle. Is this normal? Btw I used Arctic Silver 5 to apply 'horizontal line method' as stated on AS website and my current cpu cooler is Thermaltake Big Typhoon. Can you also please suggest a very good modern air cooler which would enable me to reach 3.4Ghz easily. The VID reported in bios and coretemp is 1.2625V.

Many thanks:)

this is similar but a slightly better model had it for a year or more now
My temps run high when running stuff like prime95 but not a killer, 75c, I also will be changing over to a better cooler soon, if you want something that does the job you cant go wrong with this akasa cooler, but if your looking for something thats going to knock the socks of your old cooler and go to the higher clock speeds you want and higher this more up to date number should do the trick.
All of this is dependant on your case, will that uber looking cooler fit in. If so and you can afford it go for it, you can always include it in your next build. As long as that advert blurb says 775 compliant

Those temps are fine...
I get

Core #0 - 36
Core #1 - 36
Core #2 - 33
Core #3 - 33

This is using H50 cooler.

Btw my case is coolermaster haf 922 so pretty big for almost anything:). Which one would be better :

Akasa Venom CPU cooler or Titan Fenrir Evo Cooler?

How about Thermalright Silver Arrow? This one seems to be the bigboss of all the air coolers.:)

So guys about my current cpu cooler 'Thermaltake Big Typhoon' I take it that it's not good for overclocking Q6600. I had it for my E6600 and managed to get to 3.2Ghz from 2.4Ghz(stock) and temps reached around 60C with prime95.

I am thinking of going with Akasa Venom Cpu Cooler.:)

I had a problem with temps on my Q6600.
Fitted Akasa Venom
Swopped my Coolmaster Wave Master case for a Lian-Li PC-9F

Idle temps now down to 34 running at 3.2.

What are we all using to record these temps, im using Speedfan 4.41, Core Temp 0.99.7, and a temp sidebar gadget. The reason why im saying this is each of these give me different temps, Speedfan being at least 10c higher than Core Temp and the sidebar gadget 10c lower than speedfan.
