How on earth is circumcision legal?

I see everything.

And it's only a ninja if you do it before the edit timer expiries :p

About 3 minutes isn't it? I need more time :(

tbh i had it done and dont see anything wrong with it. Generally only people who have aproblem with it are people who dont have it done. I have yet too meet a person whose had it done and has a issue with it. Its no worst then parents geeting their daughters ears pierced. Put it this way if anyone had it done and had an issue with it they wouldn't have it done on their childeren therefore only the people who have no issue with it would have it done to their children and so forth, therefore only people who dont have issues with it will do it. As loads of people do it, loads of people dont mind. Therefore who cares?

Can I ask why you had it done?

If it was for a religious reason then I find it unjustifiable. As much as I cannot stand the whole infringement on human rights bandwagon that has come about in recent times, I have to say that in this case I strongly agree it is a violation of human rights.

A pierced ear and circumcision are quite different. A pierced ear certainly isn't as painful as a circumcision.. and more to the point the body will heal the piercing.

I think you should try a google search...

It appears to have had the effect of preventing you from expressing yourself clearly in English.

That alone is a good enough reason to ban circumcision :p

So hygiene has moved with the times and religion hasn't?

Ding Ding Ding!! We have a winner!!

Also the pork thing, the reason muslims don't eat pork is for the same reason, it's unclean, it was 1500 years ago, now pigs are the most cleanest of the reared animals to eat (and always freerange and never factory), pork is far cleaner then Chicken in this country.

A baby will not remember the trauma and supposedly that means it doesn't matter.

tell you what, when a baby is born it's in immense trauma anyway. why do you think babies cry all the time?

the fact is, i have an exceptional memory of my early childhood, i can still remember events that occurred when i was only about 18 months old, but you know what i can't and never did remember? the aftermath of being circumcised, it happened so soon after birth that it doesn't even register at all.

To say that it's causing horrendous pain to newborns is simply rubbish.

It's actually done wonders for my orthography, though the two may not necessarily have been related. The fact is, not only did it cure my phimosis (and thoroughly so), it did other good things for my health (longer exercise sessions), my self-confidence (not least from the effect of the longer exercise sessions) and my reputation (session length referred to yet again). I got snipped about a year ago, just before I turned 24, and I wish I'd done it sooner. If I ever have kids, they're getting curbed before they're wiped clean and given their first liquid meal, and nothing you skinjackets can say is going to change that. In this, daddy knows best.

You do realise that a properly done circumcision is not even painful?
The procedure itself is painless, The aftermath is the painful bit, Trying to walk around and do what you would normally do becomes impossible to a degree, I had to stop playing sports during those schools days for 2-3 months, Look after it well and you'll be golden.

Bathing in salt water was good fun!

I had mine done when i was 10 years old, Scared yes i was, Did it hurt? NO.
I don't see what the problem is, Your manhood looks better with it done than without.

I got mine done partly because of my nationality, Everyone has it done, It's the norm.

It's not. There are plenty of men out there who don't understand the need to wash their penis, circumcised men don't need to put in any effort, it happens automatically in the shower, unsnipped dudes definitely do need to spend 20 seconds or so having a clean.

When you are circumcised its very very painful, the head of your penis is extremely sensitive as I'm sure unsnipped dudes are well aware of, a child goes through hell while his penis's nerve endings die and numb due to overexposure. This leads to a massive loss of sensation and sexual pleasure during sex.

I for one could not walk around with my foreskin pulled back 24/7, the contact with my clothing would render me unable to move, adult circumcision is strongly advised against because of this. A baby will not remember the trauma and supposedly that means it doesn't matter.

Personally I think its a disgrace to destroy a child's penis and the pleasure he will get from sex in the name of some fairy tail or God he may grow up to not believe in, I am very great full for my penis sensitivity, sex must really suck in comparison for those who are circumcised, I'm sure they still enjoy it an awful lot but you can't miss what you have never had.
Are you being serious?

I'm sure I posted in a very similar thread a year back. Anyway, I had it done about 3 years ago now I think it was, at the age of 34. Mine was done for medical reasons, I think they called it paraphimosis or something like that, basically my foreskin was to tight. I can honestly say that up until the day I ended up in the ER with a broken todger I would have punched anybody if they tried to chop the little fella's hat off. But after a very embarrassing experience sat in the ER with my Dad, having to show my tackle to various doctors, plus the two very large injections I had to endure at the base of my Penis, well lets just say that the fear of that ever happening again convinced me to get it done, that plus the docs said if I basically wanted to have a sex life then it would need to be done.

As for the experience itself, I found it incredibly painful and as such I would never put one of my children through the experience unless it was for medical reasons. Not only was it very very painful, but for a few weeks after it was almost unbearably uncomfortable. I still shudder at the pain felt when you wake up with an erection at night and it is streching all the stitches they've put around the end of your penis.

Having said that, after maybe 3 or 4 weeks I'd got used to it and I am now very thankful I had it done. On the subject of sensativity, I can only speak from my own experience, but hand on heart I can say that I have lost no feeling of sensitivity during sex, no loss of pleasure, it feels almost no different at all. So I've basically gone 34 years with a hat, and so far 3 years without one and I've had no loss of sensitivty or negative impact on my sex life.

Completely.

Always a controversial topic.

I'm uncut and have a perfectly normal todger. So I'm probably more biased to the "bar medical reasons there's no point in getting cut."

My first gf, I was the first uncut partner she had. Used to play with it in bed at night:cool:. Always led to sexy time ;)

That Scientific American article proves nothing, as the comments below point out. Should be bagging up anyway.

Only reason to have it removed is if something is wrong.

My wife (American) tells me that it unusual NOT to be circumcised over there.

My personally view, it's part of your body, so why would you cut it off unnecessarily. It's there for protection of the penis.

I also do not understand how it can be legal. But legal law and religious law do not always mix. What I find shocking is female circumcision, there is no hygenic reason for that, and I assume it's to do with them not straying for sex etc? I will have to read up on that... unless someone knows the legitimate answer?

The procedure itself is painless, The aftermath is the painful bit,

Mine didn't get finished properly, one blood vessel burst as I went to stand up, spent an hour holding my junk then without any aneasthetic, went to the op room and they cauterized directly under my cockhead.

Worst.Pain.Ever.

All healed ok.

Religous male circumcision in Judaism is a part of the covenant between a Jewish male and his God. As it later made it's way into Islam I am inclined to think that it's a cultural practice that predates both religions.

In both it seems to be one of the many rituals and bizarre rules that re-inforce a sense of belonging.

For those of you who have the operation, be grateful that it wasn't performed in one of the traditional Jewish ways - in which the mohel sucks the blood from the area.

doesnt mean its cleaner just means there might be less chance of infection which isnt garunteed to happen if you sleep with someone with hiv anyway.

i doubt anyone has there forskin removed purely because "its cleaner" but its always the first thing circumised people come out with.

wasnt there a study that showed people without a foreskin had a less sensitive penis? ;)
