*** Official Dead Rising 2 Thread***

Having only played a few hours, i think the controls are very consolly, which to me recks the game slightly. Also the time that it takes to hit zombies with certain weapons is annoying. Only just done the first part of game, hopefully it will become better.

I got the S ending yesterday & made a second save so I could get ending A also, S is definately the best ending, simply love this game & very pleased it came to pc, had a major overdose of this game for the time being though.

Boxing gloves combined with bowie knives 4dwin against psycho's:D.

Also a torch & gems for a fun lightsaber thats as good as a katana :D.

Skateboards are a good way to get around faster, just avoid ploughing through zombies & it'll last longer.

Also plonking big stuffed teddy bears on zombies is a laugh or filling up your inventory & plonking masks on loads of them, the game has fun & challenge written all over it, shame it didn't have the camera as a part of the second though for pictures of 50 or more zombies with masks on :D.
Gets much better the more you max your character, you unlock a good bunch of bare handed moves.

I'll give it 95% because I'm satisfied with it & know I'l be back for more .

Also finished the game with a mate got ending S
This could be one of the funniest game I ever played
kid pushbike was awesome.

I have some strange texture glitches in this

When I load the game and press start it cuts to a black screen like its no longer full screen, alt tab to get it back, flash of yellow, it loads again.
Then whilst I play I get flashing textures, quite annoying!

GTX 460 here

This game strikes me as meant to appeal to someone who has nothing better to do... which category i am unfortunately part of for the time being. Its about as slow paced as you can get, the start is ridiculously tedious and Looters and Mercs were absolutely worthless as enemies. Stupid really how guys with assault rifles do less damage than some lunatic wielding a piece of glass who killed me purely because i was running low on weapons and health so stopped by with my 2 survivors to pick up another on the way to the saferoom and i wasn't expecting some overpowered psycho to attack me.

Its ok, its got some funny quirks to it but still... core gameplay just seems very tedious. General attacks are slow as hell and most weapons aren't worth using because you get no PP for a normal kill, unlike 50PP per spiked bat kill. Can't blame them for not releasing a demo...

I'm guessing your at about level 10, maybe 13?

I'd also wager you've not had much speed or attack damage upgrades?

Give it time :)

Lvl10 and though attack upgrades would make a difference theres only 1 more speed ugprade to get and i barely noticed a difference between before and after on the 1st 1. Honestly combat sometimes feels like pulling teeth. Absolutely no flow to anything.

But seriously it shouldn't take this long to get into a game... someone said 15 hours... 15 hours!? You can get into and complete games in that time. There have been some good moments... like the I.E.B. which is hilarious to place into a large group of zombies and blow up for 300PP per kill, or the Drill Bucket which is just funny to see and gets you 500PP per kill. But the game seems mostly make up of 'ok' moments.

Combat feels more like a grind sometimes than fun, because you know if you smash a lone zombie with a power attack you get a load of PP, if you swipe through multiple ones you get much less per kill (this is reasonable) and if you use a non-combo weapon you get absolutely nothing which just feels like its punishing you, especially when combo weapons break quite quickly still. Even more so because the PP bonus' are so warped. 5000 for joining with a survivor? Ok. 10000 for rescuing them? Fine. But you need what, 20k to level? And throwing a single I.E.B. in the midst of 30 zombies gets you 9000! Or killing 10 zombies with a bucket gets you 5000. But oh wait, every 50 zombies you kill you get a bonus 500PP... wow thanks that really makes a difference.

It should be impossible to suck the fun out of the idea of thousands of zombies and free reign of weapons but somehow they managed it. There is still some fun left but not as much as it should be. I'll continue to give it a try (since i said i've nothing better to do) and maybe it'll get better but i don't have high hopes. Seriously this is effectively a slow paced Just Cause 2. Which i would go and play if it supported DX9 and would run on XP.

Add to that the fact its clearly a bog standard console port and things only get worse. No controller changes? What dumb ****er at Capcom decided i wanted Primary and Secondary attack to be THE SAME BUTTON? I have a mouse you retard, the difference between tapping and holding mouse 1 seems infinitesimal so you end up doing a power attack when you wanted a sweep. And seriously what moron did they put in charge of the 'options' panel? "We have about 50 options of resolution, how should we proceed" "We'll use an arrow so they can only pan through them 1 at a time without knowing what lies next" "Wouldn't a drop down box be more convenient for a pc game?" "GET OUT!"

completed it on S ranking last night. enjoyed it although its still hard at level 35.

I have a cheat trainer which im going to use with it later just so i can mess about and do more secrets

undecided on this pc or ps3 is it worth a punt? good port or do i get ps3?

Its a console port through and through. I think someone mentioned that the loading times and graphics are pretty bad though on consoles compared with pc which is a merit point, though considering thats to do with better hardware than Capcom it hardly makes up for its endless collection of things that should have been done better such as making better use of the pcs controls. Obviously irrelevant if you use a controller.

Hahaha Lvl 10, try playing the game more. All speed upgrades bar 1? My rear end!

If your weapons are wearing out try looking for magazines to increase the durability!

Yeah because i can just pluck magazines out of thin air, not that i even knew that magazine existed, or where to find it  And of course they use an item slot that is difficult to justify sparing early on.

Your response is that of pure fanboism. Yes my mistake, there are 3 speed upgrades not 2, but that doesn't change the fact the first hasn't made an even remotely noticable difference, perhaps all 3 combine to make a difference, or perhaps they get a little stronger, i don't know, but this is all feeling notoriously grind like. I have absolutely zero control over how i level up, i just have to accept the arbitrary gifts as and when they come.

I still find it laughable that you seem to claim people are in error if they don't play the game for 15 hours until they can start having more fun. Just Cause 2 i loaded up and was having good fun on the first mission from the get-go. Wandering around at the start pre-safe house i can accept as being sluggish but EVERYTHING feels sluggish. Jesus i'm not asking for a Batman: Arkham Asylum free flow combat system but every attack is clearly a seperate attack, nothing flows together at all. Not even moving and attacking. And the fact that you neglected to comment on the rest of my post speaks wonders...

The game is absolutely devoid of all 'feel'. Maybe this will improve, maybe not, i'll see.

People who are getting low fps (like me). I'm pretty sure its a crossfire (and sli?) problem as there is no profile for the game yet. Turning the CCC a.i off improved framerates for me and that disables 1 gpu.

I just disabled AI and man, my frames are now 60 FPS.
Much appreciated.
