I have always wanted to be in the police, and having had some spare time lately, I have had lots of time to think about it. I am only 15 now plan to enter Sixth form after I finish my GCSE'S.
Now onto my questions as I am aware there are some cops amongst us. ;)
I am a type 1 diabetic and have very minor dyspraxia, is this likely to bar me from joining?
What is the pay like, does it help if you have excellent A Level results?
How difficult is to get into the police?, I have heard of people applying for years before they got in.
Thank you in advance for any and all helpful advice. :)

yep your not going to get in with that kind of medical! I know because you wont get into the prison service with that history and its the same home office rules as police

plus they arnt recruiting and thanks to the tories are going to be cut to the bone!

Be fair, it's a huge thread. If it's like most big threads on here it will be a few good posts and lots of irrelevant stuff :p

The odds of you getting into the Police for the next 5 years is astronomical... I really don't see any of the forces recruiting for a while..

Unfortunately Diabetes is a no go area or at least was last time I looked into it. My brother suffers from the same condition as you and wasn't able to get in for this reason.

If you can't get in for a role on the beat, there are some other areas I'm sure you diabetes wouldn't be an issue in, CID or something similar.

Good luck with whatever you decide to go for

IDD?

Also, I have now read that other thread and indeed one of the things they check for in the medical is diabetes.
Looks like I can forget that dream. :(

There's still the civilian side of policing. It's not all about arresting the bad guys you know.
