Not sure if I like the effect, or is it too fake? Opinions and constructive criticism would be lovely :)

Very dramatic and striking but the haloing between the roof and sky doesn't appeal to me. The best type of HDR are the ones that are so subtle it can't be noticed imo, but there are people who are into the surreal effect.

Too much for me, it has lost the feeling that a actual photo has. The sky looks like the black and white noise you get on analogue TV sets when it has no reception and the edge of the roof to the sky makes it look like a layer with glowing edges.

I was going to post something quite blunt, but I'll try to be constructive here.

The effect looks terrible for that shot. It's not clear whether you're just trying it out for fun, or whether you actually want to use it on that shot.

If the former, then you're going about it the wrong way. You need a shot that wants that effect, you don't want to be sticking it on every shot that has a sky. What are you tying to say here, that this er, café is all dark and moody in what appears to be bright sunshine? There's not even anyone in the shot that could push for that mood (someone looking sullen or something). The shot is rather dull; I'm thinking you took it as a snap to try the effect on so I won't go into that.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Just to confirm, yes, the clouds were PS generated! I was very on the fence about this photo, and I do kinda like it, but it's not my style at all. It seemed a good photo to experiment with HDR on as I've barely touched it before. Anyway, good to hear what the general consensus think of it! :p

+1

Overdone.

it wouldnt be so bad if the sky look real.

Why is every cloud seemingly the same shape ? it just looks like its been copied and pasted in.
