Help me stay awake...

my advice is to try to get 8-9 hours sleep a night. no less than 7.5-8!
sitting at a pc screen it will tire you out. you can dim your screen(50-75%) it will help a lot and you can also instead of touch typing and looking at the screen, look somewhere else, even at the keys your typing.

i havent noticed much difference when doing this on a tft screen but on the crt's if you could up the refresh rate from 60 to 100 then the screen seemed softer to look at, althought i had a superbright button great for games but painfull on the eyes if you were tired. i think i see a tiny difference between 60 and 75hz on my dell. id need one that supported higher to see if its any better.

I have had this problem, the problem was if I feel asleep I got shouted at!

Just don't become relaxed, keep drinking water and take notes. Well that worked for us, and fear.

Keep well hydrated, if you can fit it into your routine, get some exercise. I always find that exercising in the morning sets me up for the day.

I have also found exercise in the morning helps keep me concentrating during the day. I used to go swimming for about 45 mins a few mornings a week, which worked wonderfully, but I fell out of that habit somehow, but have started doing a gym (either erg (rowing machine) or weights) before school some days as part of rowing training. Both are good, but I think something that really gets you puffing - running/swimming/rowing is best for keeping me awake. However, lack of sleep is my main problem - I usually end up with less than 7hrs a night, which is far too little for me, so in double lessons by the end it's all I can do not to lay my head on the desk and have a little snooze. The only reason for my lack of sleep is disorganisation - leaving homework too late and relaxing for too long when I don't have time. I'd say aim for about 9 hours a day.

I usually find reading a book for half an hour before bed helps me go to sleep quickly. I'd also try not to watch TV/play games/eat/exercise before you go to bed as this keeps me awake.

That's what I try and do now, bed at around 12, up at 9:15 every weekday, doesn't seen to work now and has never worked in the past (when I was at school I did the go to bed at 10, get up at 8 thing, still an utter wreck by the end of the week and still taking an hour or to to get to sleep at night).:D(

It is imperative that you get yourself out of bed immediately after the alarm goes off. That and going to bed at the exact same time trains my body to know when sleep will arrive and when it is required to be awake. If you're doing it right then the best way to know is when you wake just before the alarm. Did that ever happen?

You however are getting way too much sleep, hence feeling lethargic. I can guarantee it! You get NINE HOURS of sleep?? Then at school you used to get TEN HOURS OF SLEEP... TEN!?!?!?:eek::eek:

Stick to 8 or below.
