Also, doesn't the iPhone have 4 variations, not 1? (Original, 3g, 3gs and 4?)

It does, its still a huge amount less than Android phones though. The Nokia argument bears no relevance to this either.

The reason for the queue is they are selling them abroad to mostly middle east countries where it was delayed / the markup is bigger.

I've only had a quick look but it sounds similar to when Nokia used to make a 900mhz phone and an 1800mhz model with a different number

Good times I say! This years iPhone has been a major disappointment over last years - My iPhone 4 continues to be buggy - still the best phone available in my opinion and as long as they get next years one right - I'll forgive them

While that is true, Apple only have two 'current' phones out, the 3G S and the IP4. Where as Android have many latest phones and there's more coming - Desire, Desire HD, Samsung S, Francisco, Wildfire etc etc

I see your point, but I'm neither an Android user nor a Apple, so I don't really care. I was just pointing out that the statistics aren't black and white.

The key difference is that Apple are getting all of the profit from iPhone 4 sales. Google don't profit from Android sales in a direct cash-flow manner and the profit from handsets is split between multiple manufacturers. Combine that with the higher profit margin per-handset for the iPhone and I think Apple are still in a very nice position.

the flash IS decent. well its as good as LED will get

Those stats don't really answer anything though.

Like myself and others, I'm still on a 3G, sat on the fence waiting to see what Apple do with the iPhone 4, or possibly a 5. Many others are the same and thus haven't bought a new phone. Android have many phones on the market and most get offered at much better price points than the iPhone, thus sales will fundamentally be better due to those who either can't afford an iPhone or simply want an alternative.

As for ques outside Apple Stores for phones still....

I've not seen that to be the case at Regent Street or the new Covent Garden one.

This is true - Covent Garden was a mess of people buying phones to sell abroad..

Id have thought it would have been a better for Apple to launch a lower end model, maybe a 8GB Nano iPhone or similar?.
I have always upgraded to the current model, albeit a few weeks after initial launch, but Im not sure this time, I guess we will know more soon....
