Misleading thread title. :p

They also have a different pint to us also, as well as a different ton (I think), maybe they just like being different.

Ironically, this is coming from a guy who's punctuation is abysmal, and puts the '£' sign in the wrong place.

It took three attempts of reading the OP, but yes their dating system is wholly different. Why? I don't know, nor do I care.

However, the most adolescent of American’s would have superior grammar when compared to yours :p

My head is about to explode from just reading that. I actually thought it had something to do with dating girls..

The American format is middle-endian and is a perfectly valid way of expressing a date - even if it is a little weird! :p Interestingly, little-endian [current UK format] and middle-endian were both used in the UK at one time.

Why the Americans adopted it I have no idea. Perhaps it was to do with the way they say a date out loud.. or it could just be through complete contrariness!

It's very annoying and has taken me a good 6 months to get used to it, and I still have to think about it :p

That and US keyboards with their stupid swap of " and @
