One thing I've always hated is people who live in their overdrafts. Sort your bloody finances out then and only then can complain.

Whilst working within the RBS group I've seen people sitting at 4K overdrawn for years, don't they realise they have to pay that back?
The banks love these sort of people though, as they end up making loads of money in overdraft fees! :D

My sister once did soul crushing telephone customer support for MBNA. She said she routinely got calls from people saying their card had 'run out' and they needed a new one.

The worst ones I had whilst working for NatWest lending were people who wanted to increase their overdrafts to pay off pay-day loans.

I have sympathy for those that have just hit a run of bad luck and are desperate, but otherwise I don't know how these people can look at themselves in a mirror?

To lust after a bigger overdraft just makes me despair. Do you have no pride? Dignity?

Surely basic money management is just a survival skill? If you haven't mastered such a skill by the time you are old enough to be offered credit, you deserve all the misery that is coming to you.

Grow up, man up.

You silly boy. :D Maybe you need a bank account where you can't go overdrawn??? Basic Account....

Personally I think if you can't qualify for a private banking account, you should have to start off with a basic (Child) account for 6 months to prove you deserve better.

You say that as though I'm not doing that too. You also assume you could have enough savings for all occasions. I'm just covering myself in multiple ways.

Well I don't know you and you didn't put that across. Good on you for saving, if only thousands of others did the same.

I never said you'd need money for all occasions. You do understand what "for a rainy day" means, right?

I don't understand all the "£20 a day is stupid" comments. When you signed up, you will have been given a list of T&C's, perhaps if you read them you would have noticed these fees and done your very best to concern them.

But, lul! I'm a student and my overdraft is free, for now ;)

Indeed. Anyway. Let's not get needlessly confrontational over this. So easy to get defensive on the intermaweb.
