Buy a 6870?

can't see any reason in the world why you'd need to upgrade what you currently have to run WoW, it doesn't REALLY require that much of a gaming system anyway!
 
Hmm I, I fraps benchmarked in Dalaran at stock and at 4.1Ghz and the frames went from 25fps to 48. While WoW is poorly optimized, If configured right it will use a hefty chunck of 4 threads. If you went to 4.0 or 4.2Ghz I would be suprised if you didn't see decent gains. I think definatly concentrating on CPU speed would be the easiest and cheapest option for a fps increase. If you want the single best card for wow then GTX 480 is defo the way to go. Also I have heard a few people who swear by SSD's for multiboxing :)

Btw 1-80, takes only a couple of days..

As for the CPU, I'm pretty sure that is not what is holding me back. As I said:
my GPU usage reaches 100% on the first GPU, the second GPU is practically unusable
when running WoW through ISBoxer.

So really I'm running 5x 1920x1080 wow's with a single 5770, which isn't enough
to run it at decent settings (or what I consider decent anyway). I get 1fps in
dalaran whilst standing still.

Or at least some other form of 480. (The Gigabyte seems no better than the OCUK why is this???)
It'll be under water eventually (beginning of next year it seems), so the coolers won't make much
difference in the long run..

Kal are you using /console maxfps 8 on all clients bar your active ones, and by active i mean the ones you focus your eyes on while multiboxing, rendering more than the minimum frames per client is whats gonna hold you back , that and the GPUram penalty per wow client... More core info please for potential wow players to help :)

'Get a life' statements are ever so useful when it comes to tech recommendations.

I would say go for a single card no matter what you do to be honest. You may of course wait for 6000 series, but you are probably best off trying to flog your 5770s either way if only to get a 5870, a 470 or a 480 if the 6000s should not fit your budget or be to your liking.

Not all day. I spend around 1hour a day training, 6 hours working (unless I work a double shift),
and an hour or so in town. Then I go home and do the normal stuff, so maybe 1-2hours a night max?
 
Here's my answer for the public domain , for posterity

Hey mate, yea i expected so , your wasting renders right there, cutting em down will boost performance on your primary client, there are two in wow console commands of great use when mulitboxing ,

My experience has been using 3 clients, 2 leveling using recruit a friend , and my main account assisting by powering through dungeons, I did this at the time on a macbook pro with the 9400M . I just capped the frames on the 2 following clients to 8 and then the frames on the primary jumped up from a struggling 22-25 to a respectable 55-60 in old world dungeons.

They are /console maxfps XX and press enter, and /console maxfpsbk XX and press enter , where xx is a two digit frame rate, although i think when your talking about 8 fps you can simply type 8.

For some technical reason 8 fps is the minimum wow can be asked to render at least in my experience, although it is ofc possible for wow to run at 1-2 fps on really bad pc's but i dont think you can use this command to set it lower than 8.

So write an ingame macro that literally lists /console maxfps 08 and press enter. Having a macro like that is handy if you have one right beside it that uncaps a client.

Note that setting max fps is semi-permenant change, it wont go away till you change it for that client again, so next time you login it will still cap itself at 8, to remove the cap just type 00 instead of a value between 8-120 then your uncapped again.

MaxfpsBk is a seperate function that sets the max framerate rendered when you Alt-Tab out of game, but will let your frames render as normal ingame,

So its not your graphics card that will help the most here !! :P

Ive quit wow now but when i was still playing they turned up all the time in arenas, you would get 5 shamans stood on top of each other all called "aaaaaaaaaaaa" and "aaaaaaaaaaab", "aaaaaaaaaaaac" ect... Total bullcrap no matter what anyone says it IS cheating, the only reason Blizz wont recognize that fact is cause someone is paying for 5+ accounts which makes em happy.

It takes a HUGE amount of skilled when compared to 1account pal. 5 REAL shamans should own a 5boxer, no matter what.

If they can't, then it's because of their lack of skills, not because of the multiboxers advantage, since multiboxing brings no
advantages whatsoever.
5 characters = 5x harder to play than one.
 
Yeh right, all walk together on same spot and spam chain lightning takes pro skills. Honestly dude theres nothing anyone can say that will convince me running 5 accounts isnt cheating, at the very least its no better than what the gold farmers do.

How about 5 x movement keys? Do you think playing 5 classes in a raid is easy? If so, you're a complete idiot.

Maybe you're just jealous because you don't have the funs or SKILLS to play 5 classes in a raid
simultaneously. If you did, then you'd realise just how difficult it is! It's not just /follow and smash
1 button. My disc priest has 35 macros just for healing my 5 toons, without movement keys
getting involved.
I've got over 100macros that need to be used all the time, it's really not just /follow and keep
pressing 1.

As for the other post saying I have no life, that's kind of true :p
 
Im not talking about raiding im talking about cheap tricks in PvP, what someone does in raids to get the instance cleared is up to them doest effect my enjoyment of the game. Kinda dont understand why you would raid alone tho lol, point of the game is to have a laugh with your mates. As for skill i managed to clear all content in the game on hard mode (25man) before i left so i must be doing something right.

I didnt mean this to become a slagging match on a technical forum tho, i honestly dont mind as i dont even play any more. Its not a question of how much skill is needed ect for me, i just see it as a cheat/exploit of the game that blizz wont fix cause someones paying for 5 accounts.

1. As I said, 5 real players are more capable than 1 player playing 5 accounts. If you can't down
a 5shaman team then it is due to you/your team's lack of skill, not a multiboxer being overpowered.

2. I don't raid alone, I 5box, there are 5 other players, and the point in doing so is that playing
1 character is not challenging to me - at all.

3. Completing content on hard mode is not enough to show skill - it is something that
can easily be boosted. I know of someone who has 4boxed in a 10man icc hc run. I also
know of someone with 7kills in icc10 whilst playing 10 characters. I don't see any proof of
you claim either, so I shall treat it as any other troll.

End of discussion, multiboxing is not a cheat, it is something that takes an extraordinary
amount of skill and patience. You've not contributed to this thread in any way at all,
so I'd appreciate it if you didn't post here again.



I've decided to wait for the 6xxx series, as I cannot afford a gtx480 at this time. Then I
will have a better idea of what is the best action to take, perhaps 480 prices will fall
and I will be able to buy a 480 + a c300 or similar SSD.
 
Well i dont really see myself as trolling but ok, like i said i didnt want to have a slagging match. If you cant understand why i see it as exploiting the game then we have a fundamental difference of opinion on the subject. Im cool with that, doesn't really bother me theres no need to be so aggressive about it m8. As for the gfx cards your definantly best to wait on the 6xxx series for sure, even if they turn out to be rubbish there certainly gonna drive the prices on everything else down a lil.

Dont really wanna be thought of as a troll so gonna leave it at that.
