ATI Radeon™ HD 5970 WoW Issue?

you do have an issue...

My 5970 only uses a single core whilst in wow for some reason but..

@1920x1200 i get 55fps average in dalaran...

@ 3600x1920 eyefinity i get around 45fps.

thats on a single gpu.

When my card does actually work i get 60fps+ solid

Yeah I figured out the banner thing thanks :-)

My Internet connection is ADSL 8mb though I get about 5 but that shouldn't affect fps.

I used msi afterburner and it shows both cores working doing the same thing both running at about 40%

My pc and CCC also still don't recognise the 2nd core, does yours do that Phoenix?

So I've tried everything, what should I do now?

It can drastically affect performance especially in WoW.

Well yeah it can affect your latency, but I didn't think it could affect fps :-/
Anyway I have a 5mb connection and my latency is always about 53 in wow so that's not an issue.

Yes it can.

If i max out my 50mbit connection whilst playing WoW in Dalaran I have issues, performance drops quite significantly.

Well fair enough, but my connection never maxes out, im playing now and i have 48ms so we can take that one out the equasion

considering my friend has a higher latency than me and gets more frames

Edit:
Tried out the GPUZ thing as well as the other one and they both show the same, when in windowed mode only one core works at 40% but when in full screen mode both work at 40%.
Around northrend depending where i am it can range from 16 to 58 FPS (58 being when im inside a building and 16 when i was on a griffon to dalaran) now that im in dalaran again i have 23FPS

Just did and it only improves it by about 10 FPS, but the thing is that Phoenix has a similar system to me and exactly the same card and he gets 60 or more in full screen or windowed mode

Ok then.

I did a reinstall on Win 7 yesterday and hadnt check yet But now both my cores are working at 99%.

In dalaran im seeing 45-50fps with some jittering @ 1920x1200.

Within eyefinity i see 30-45fps depending.

Im not sure if my pc is doing it wrong but for me thats not exactly very good....

Im buying a I7 950 as my 920 craps out at 3.8ghz atm

turn V.sync off ! My 2x5770 get around 40-50 in dalarn with vsync off and shadows to low . Else where it 200- 250 fps and thats at 1920x1200 . Dalarn is always bad because of the the amount of people there .

Well your PC performs better than mine phoenix, even if i have a better processor currently as i have a 950.
i have to admit frames outside dalaran are a lot higher, but still i have seen them drop v v low like to 10 at one point when i was surrounded by trees in dragonsblight when on a griffon.
how populated is your server?

bhindi my v sync is off, it occasionally goes above 60 fps say if i look directly at the floor or sky, my shadows are set to high, but setting them to low doesnt give much of an increase, but yeah i guess if i get a 10 fps increase my frames would be similar to yours.

if you 2 have this issue then maybe its just how well the card does with wow atm.

maybe they will fix it when cataclysm comes out and when it supports xfire properly?

ah who knows :-( i was just expecting it to perform better for the amount i paid and even other games dont perform as well as other peoples on the benchmark tests on review sites like CoD MW2.

its still playable but yeah more performance would be nice

Phoenix, if my cores are only working at 40% each most the time should i reinstall windows 7 like you did?

i am using 10.9 i updated it today, but im not sure about crossfire applications 10.9?

Is there something additional you have to doownload for crossfire for each patch release?

the pc is about 2 months old so i would figure windows 7 would be ok for now

Edit: Ok i had a look on the ATI Site and do you mean i should install ATI CrossFireX™ Application Profiles ?

gonna do it anyway as i assume thats what you mean, didnt think you had to install extras :-o

Ok i installed the ATI CrossFireX™ Application Profiles thing and it has improved my frame rates a bit, rather than sitting on 23 on avarage it now sits on 29 at avarage which is better :-) though still quite a lot less than yours Phoenix, do you have everything enabled on wow and your at 1900x1200? i have everything on max and the only thing disabled is death effect which wont make any difference when im alive anyway.

Is your Catalyst A.I on standard, advanced or off?

Ok i was playing CoD MW2 and my frames were way way better im hitting above 150 fps in most places, so that must mean my gpu is working :-) not sure then why wow is not the same :-/ but maybe its the same for most people

anyone have any ideas for why the wow performance isnt at its peak or how i could improve without lowering settings?

Have read through this seems a few people who own a 5970 have problems with wow

My friend advised that i run the free version of £d Mark 06

are these results correct or good enough for the setup i have?

3DMark Score
18143 3DMarks

SM 2.0 Score
6522

SM 3.0 Score
9569

CPU Score
4667

Edit:
it says the score that other people get avarage at 30140 and mine was only 18143!

Do you think some people have overclocked their graphic cards to hit that?
