Winter 2010/2011

I moved to a house which is quite near my work (about 1.5 miles, plus a fairly steep hill). Usually drive to work (I'm a teacher) as I always have bags of marking, laptop, other things to heft into work with me.

Not looking forward to snow this year because we've moved to the top of a hill, apparently our village was pretty much cut off last year!

As long as work (school) is open, I'll have no excuse for not getting in - if it's really bad, and I can't get my car out, I might have to set off walking pretty early and won't be dragging all my usual stuff with me - the kids will have to work on paper for the day!

Contrary to popular belief, after day 1, it's actually a bit of a pain having school shut - I was sooooo far behind once we got back to work last year that I struggled to catch up. And even when I get there, half the kids don't bother (even though they live much closer than me) so it's almost not worth doing anything that I need all of them to learn!

Luckily my car (my trusty Nissan Micra) does a pretty good job in the snow :)

I hope its a lot worse than last year with snow, i drive a gritter and only had the plough on once last year.

The extra work and pay for antisocial hours would help a bit too.

No heavy snow. My tyres are useless in the snow and I need to drive. I hate the cold but love wearing coats (gayer :p).

I'm looking forward to someone posting about how ridiculous it is that the country comes to a standstill after a little bit of snow yet people in Scotland or some other crappy cold crap hole have no problems blah blah blah...

Here's hoping it isn't as windy as last year! Losing a fence and a brick wall, and a 32ft tree isn't a whole load of fun. Bar that, bring on the snow :p

From what I have heard recently, the same group of atmospheric scientists that predicted the weather we had last winter, aswell as the summer that we had, have suggested that this winter will be worse than last year, with temperatures dropping towards minus 20 in places.

Thats odd because I read that these very same people had said that we might have similar weather to last year but not for quite such a 'sustained period'.

Am hoping for a lot of mild south westerly storms or weather fronts like the one thats passing over us the now. My predicted on the other hand is cold easterly weather from the end of December on wards.

The silver lining to my recent break up :p walking home from his I used to get at least one random snow ball thrown at me from a random gang of lads. Like walking home through the wild west, will not miss it. As long as my brothers don't pee on snow balls and throw them at me this year, I want loads of snow!!
