From reading all of the posts relating to the Ring, i have decided that i "Need" to visit and see what all the hype is about (and see how accurate GTR:Evo is).

I think it would be awesome if we had an OCUK trip over there? a 4 / 5 day road trip?

Who would be up for this?

MOD - Please could you add a poll option.

"Would you be interested in an OCUK Members trip to Nurburgring"

1: Yes
2: Yes, Date dependent
3: Would come for the crack but not the track
4: Silly idea Mast3r.

I'd love to do something like this but I have no experience of track days or the costs involved.

How much, roughly, would a trip like this cost? Also, what kind of prep would my car need to make it ready for the track?

I'd get a few UK track days under your belt before going to the ring. Over here you can have a full days for around £100.

Usually the ring costs at least £500. Fuel, hotel, food etc.

Car prep is just making sure it's serviced, in good order and has good rubber. Tracks put huge stress on the car so you want it as close to perfect mechanically as you can get.

Don't forget costs such as possibly needing fresh tyres, brakes etc afterwards ;)

Tbh if you're that close to the limit of needing new tyres and brakes after a trip there, then you should be doing it before you go, not afterwards, especially as it's usually a 1000 mile round trip or so.

The track is actually quite light on brakes compared to many places too I've found, tyres depends on what you've got and how hard you're pushing really, but my eagle f1s of cheese I had on at the time earlier this year held up well.

No.2

Will definitely head out there some time next year, but it is date dependant if I decide to go with the OcUK massive :).

I meant fresh before and after, not sure if I'm over estimating use, but I thought people would usually go through a set of tyres such as Eagles, T1-R etc and pads.

Sounds like an awful idea. Don't OCUK meets normally end in some kind of drama or a car on its roof?

1000 mile round trip and a road that will bite you right in the tabs if you drive it like a dick swinging contest. I wonder how many wouldn't make it back!
