HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Surely he meant £17.50.

Its not that special. £7.50 x 18 months + Desire HD cost at £469 = £604, which will be close to some of the more competitive contract deals.

The Desire was selling on total contract deals for less than £500 on release.

£35 x 18 = £630 for example. You also avoid paying a lump sum upfront.

Just looking at the T Mobile site, lots of options there.

Any ideas on the best way to buy the thing. I brought my iPhone 3G outright and it ended up costing me just as much.

Yeh deal ended today i think, 12 month contract and i do get unlimited texts as you get 1 bolt on option which i used for texts. Had to phone up for the deal though. Now i just need my Cheap HD :S

£459.95 on mobilefun, orderd mine from there a few weeks ago, confirmed with them I'll be getting one of the first batch through the doors :D:D

According to the email I got today from mobile fun, they have only had 35 pre-orders and have ordered 100 phones, so should be lots left in the first batch.

I really hope the Vodafone guy on the phone does what he says and tries to get me the handset on a 25/month contract, the money ill be saving will be better than going going through cash back website.

My only issue now is regarding insurance, as with a phone this big and new I can see myself needing it but don't know where's best to get it from ...

T-Mobile offer £8.99 a month but I've heard some Lloyds TSB accounts get cheaper insurance as part of a monthly additional cost which I could maybe go with?

Silver account includes phone insurance, AA cover and european travel insurance for £7.95 / month.

I just upgraded my account to this today (only had a normal current account for a week). The mobile cover takes 15 days to go active but the lady in the branch entered all the details in as HTC Desire HD for me and put the EMEI number as "00000000000", so all I need to do is call up and update it and I should be covered from the off :).

Also in dire need of AA cover and I'm going on holiday next month so works out well :).

yeah i have that llyolds deal, we have it on our joint account so that makes it £3.50 each a month for all of the above x 2 :D

ps i also made a claim for my desire and they shipped me a new unlocked/unbranded one within 3 days of getting the paper work in :)

Hmm, given that phone insurance alone is around £7 per month, I think that Lloyds TSB is a good deal to be honest :) I could do with some AA cover.

I'll be interested to see if the Voda guys can get it any cheaper. I've spoken to them on 3 separate occasions and been told that they can't reduce pre-order phone contracts at all, they can only do it once released.

Strange, they told me they were having 50 in the first batch.

Just checked on their site and the release date is now showing as 01/11/2010 and there was me looking forward to getting one towards the end of next week :(

MPD has gone up as well. Today it should say 13 days for delivery, but now it says 16. Whether that's for all customers or new orders who knows, but hopefully it'll be before the end of the month either way.
