You can get in to the higher end clubs wearing trainers, but usually only if you know the door pickers. Just go safe with shoes, trousers (or smart jeans) and a shirt.

Otherwise if you roll up at midnight after a few beers you're just giving them one more reason not to let you in. You might say "their loss" but then there's a reason why those places are packed full of hot girls and not 30-40 somethings out on hen parties. If you want the latter just go to OnAnon or Tiger Tiger, they'll let anyone in.

From my experience usually only get in wearing trainers if your on the concessions list or VIP even if your buddies with the person on the door.

Just wear shoes, smartish jeans and a casual shirt, you should get let in most places unless you try go on in some overly posh place, and you shouldn't be overdressed, unless you decide to go to a rave

id say this is pretty accurate- fashion trainers are allowed, so aslong as you're wearing nice white trainers, in the tennis style (not in proper trainer style) you'l be ok, but its better just to wear shoes and not give the bouncer a reason to turn you down
