Porsche 911: All the same, crap to drive, just crap!

Well if you want to talk Track Times.

Said 500bhp Evo IX clocked Bedford Aero Drome's West Circuit at 1 minute 24.8.

Turbo S clocked it at 1 minute 23.4 - so nearly 1.5 seconds quicker, despite the Evo having 500bhp...

Mate just lol, major lol.

It's 40 against 1 for a reason that is down simply to the shee ite you have posted.

I actually agree with the point you are trying to make about ease of exploiting a 4wd car, my RS4 is quicker cross country than my GT3 because my GT3 was a bitch on the road, the new one isn't. BUT to imply that a 400bhp Evo/Scooby would kill a Turbo 997 is to show that 1) you know sod all about the ability of the Pork and 2) you read silly soundbites from the likes of Top Gear and Evo and seem unable to distinguish them from the facts.

I never said that, i said keep up with, or whatever. Maybe i implied or said otherwise, i can't keep up now, but you dam well know what i meant.

I was referring more to RWD, stuff like a Enzo and Zonda, etc, stuff that you'd think would nail said 4WD cars but in certain conditions won't, simply because you can't access even 75% of the supercars abilities on the road.

But hey you twist it lads, i said i would much prefer a evo to a Mclaren F1, im sure i did there somewhere.

Remember what they said at school...

"We are not laughing with you, we are laughing at you"...I think that was it, seems right....

Yeah but the difference between me and a lot of you, is i don't need losers on a forum, i have real friends.

I was laughing, because after all that was said about conditions, etc the prat quotes track lap times, after 0-60 times.

If id done that id get crucified..............but then im not that dumb.

You confuse me, You compare a Evo to a 911 turbo point to point.. saying 4wd gives you the advantage, Then I think you realise the turbo is 4wd? So come out with the above... Crazy kid

To the Porsche haters... have you ever been out in a 911 or do you simply just not like the looks cos it's been around for four decades?

Quite the opposite actually!

I have an absolutely massive amount of respect for old 911s. Like I mentioned earlier, I grew up flicking through Porsche picture books when I was literally knee high. The sheer awesomeness of old air cooled 911s are more than burned into my mind.

In contrast to what has come before it, the 996 series just doesn't seem that special to me (turbo and RS cars obviously excluded) And don't pretend that I'm alone in thinking that, even the odd 911 buffs turn their noses up at the 996.

On a on topic note, I've done a few laps in a 911 and the initial turn in is unbelievable. Can well believe the GT3 RS being crazy fun.

I drove the 996 when it first came out, around 1999 time and then again in 2001ish when the Gen 2 came out. Both times I was astonished by the sheer feel it provided from the road below, the way the engine responded, the way it stopped. Car's evolve but back in the day it was still lauded like each one before and after though blokes with beards decided it was crap as it wasn't air cooled and had an ugly face. While I agree that it wasn't the best set of headlights I've seen it was a better car than the 993 in virtually every way if one is objective and if you think the interior was crap you should sit in a 993!
