But you can look at the big bang in an analogous way to particle - anti-particle pair creation and anihilation. something from nothing, then something turns back into nothing. The nett effect is 0, so your binary decision becomes tertiary imo.

Also, afaiaa, there is no evidence to suggest an infinite universe.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if those big petrolheads were to stop the deployment of anything that could threaten their businesses. The amount of power they wield is frightening enough. Assassinating threats such as these would not be beyond imagination. People have been assassinated for far less throughout history.

I've actually thought about it like that and it makes a lot of sense but you still really have a choice between something always existing and something being created from nothing, both are amazing to consider but one surely must be the truth?

There's always an super-powerful, super-knowledgeable bogeyman to fear. In the past, theological ones worked best, so it was heretics and witches. Now it's aliens, organisations like the Illuminati or Big Oil.

They're simply not that powerful or knowledgeable. It would be easy to get the details of a magic energy source online and spread before they could stop it. It would be easy to gain a great deal of publicity with a magic energy device simply by demonstrating it and that publicity would protect you. Especially if you made it clear that full details were stored elsewhere to be published into the public domain in the event of your death even if it appeared to be an accident.

Load of *******, they are the ones investing and buying these technologies, they know oil is not the future and want to survive. It is the oil giants that will bring us the new energy when economics make it viable.

who do you think is building wind farms, shale oil, hydro electric and other energy sources already, who do you think is investing the research into new technologies like rock oil and everything else. Big companies are not dumb and they have the wealth and resources to build the future to insure their profit margins.
