Little black dress. A truly timeless classic.

She was at the same hotel as us on our honeymoon. Alessandra Ambrosio, absolutely stunning!!

I usually wear a fur and flip-flops. Anything goes these days. I hear that dressing up as a mullah gets you into lots of places.

As mentioned. Just pop some brown/black/tan/white (if you're not sure about your sexuality) loafers on and where whatever you want on the lower half and up top.

I usually just wear loafers, smart jeans, belt and then a smart t-shirt up top. Though I don't go out in london very often so would probably pop a shirt or a smart jumper on to be safe.

Take a few options with and then see what your mate/mates are wearing. If you're all dressed similarly then you'll either all get in/booted out as opposed to one of you being left outside like a Larry.

Failing that my vote goes with the clogs, floss thong and cowboy hat.

does London have a dress code?

simple answer is No!

If you plan on going in clubs just play it safe, nice shirt or t-shirt ,jeans and shoes, oh and its ok to wear a light jumper over a shirt in the winter , you dont have to go round looking like a complete twonk with nothing but a t-shirt on freezing your nuts off pretending to be some sort of hard nut.

if its just pubs wear what you want

Evening lads and ladies,

I am off to see a friend at the end of this month and he is treating me to a night out in London town. To be honest, it is going to be a completely different experience compared to any place I have been and I need some help on what to wear.

I have heard certain clubs don't allow certain footwares etc.

Help a fellow forum member out and give me some idea !

Much appreciated.

Watch the Mighty Boosh. Vince specifically. Copy to the letter. Sorted.

It needs to be an Afghan coat.

Every Hipster ever said:
'Well, you know man, I used to be into the Afghan scene but then it became more popular and then me and it ... we drifted apart, I suppose ... I'm current, I'm setting scenes! You wouldn't understand. You weren't there when Afghan was cool. Now I'm working on a new weave, yeah?'

Nice shoes, Nice shirt, Nice jeans and a nice watch.

You don't have to dress conservatively - wearing the above in East London would put you in a minority tbh...

As a rough guide City and West end often require shoes - everywhere else in London pretty much doesn't.

There are no hard and fast rules though - I work in the city but we have a casual dress code at work - an Australian colleague was wearing trainers on a night out - the bouncer told him he couldn't come in with trainers "They're not trainers! They're my dancing shoes!!!" - he was let in...

The other easy workaround with obstructive door staff at clubs is to simply ignore, grab a promoter and declare your intention to buy a table = instant queue jump and no more hassle from the door monkeys. Obviously you do need to be willing to spend if you're doing this so its perhaps not something to do every weekend.

@OP if you're unsure what to wear then get a female friend who you think generally looks hot and drag her along to Oxford Street, Bond Street etc.. - girls like shopping and generally will pick things you wouldn't have considered yourself IME the result isn't cringeworthy a la the recent inbetweeners episode rather you end up with tops/jeans that fit well and which other girls think look nice etc...
