thinking about classic mini

I'm roughly the same age as you, I think if its 18 months till you can drive. Just got myself a 1973 mini, was very lucky with it, it was under the wrong listing on eBay, got it for £800 previous owner had spent £2,000 on the bodywork, has no engine as of yet, lots of work needed, all fun! Subframes, bodywork, floorpan, doors e.t.c all in very good condition, not much rust on anything

Ready for painting... nearly:

^^^Looking good there Coomber!

Do you own a classicy type vehicle mr69?
Yes, I've got a Ford Anglia that I've had for some time and restored and a Model T hotrod. I've also had a 1961 100E which was my first car and a 1954 Ford Pop.

Here's the Anglia and T:

(you can just see the Pop in the garage because I still had it when I took this photo)

Alternatively - a nice Triumph Dolomite, preferably an 1850HL with a manual box.

It's much faster, more comfortable, seats 4 with ease (5 at a push), has a decent boot, cheap spares, plenty of tuning potential and in my eyes looks better.

They're rear-wheel drive to boot :p Quite economical too.

You'll get a perfectly usable car for around £800, a tax-exempt one for a little more - so you won't have to worry about it or start working on it straight away and can just get down to driving it.

A friend of mine had an ancient Morris Minor as his first car. I forget how old it was, but it must have been fairly old as I don't think it even had synchromesh. He was constantly having to fix things. We called it his clown car because bits were always falling off. You'd go to open the door and the door handle would come off in your hand.

Fair play Mr69, I bet that T is one hell of a hoot to drive! What be the specs on that beast?
It's a T body and mainly Pilot running gear with a later German 4 litre flathead V8, 5 speed box. I've just taken it off the road for a few improvements.
