Counterstrike Source - Worth Buying?

To the OP, if you don't mind getting shot a lot (as the game is full of vets now) then go for it, otherwise I would go for a more recent online shooter, where you'll get some players at your level and thus you won't throw the mouse out of the window.

This is something im looking at getting also, but there are several different version to buy on Steam, which one should i go for?

Counter Strike: Source £13.99 is the basic package so to speak.

You can pay extra for Day of Defeat: Source & HL2 Deathmatch - both of which are wicked games!

That guy is from Hidden Path (the guys who are updating css).

Removed -tickrate command line option and defaulted tick rate to 66 rather than 33. This addressed a number of issues, including:
# Tick rate affecting how fast doors open / close
# Tick rate causing players hitting the ground to stutter
# Tick rate affecting the firing mechanisms of certain guns

No official CSS servers are 100tick so.. what's the point? Sure you can patch user end. But server's always gona discard extra packets.

Loving CS:S although I prefer Day of Defeat Source it just reminds me of COD2 / 3 online which I loved!!!
Also very impressed that with a little overclocking my HP Mini 311 netbook runs CS:S and DOD:S really really well! Shame it won't run TF2!
