New mods on my 997 C2S

The standard C2 looks good but the Aerokit makes a huge difference to any 911, massive improvement looks great.

This is pretty much how I feel about the 911. I actually am not a huge fan of the back of the 911 without a spoiler, despite owning one, it's always been my major bone of contention. I couldn't limit my search for one with an aerokit however because there's so few out there I'd be shooting myself in the foot.

Thankfully I was able to source this aerokit without donating a kidney to Porsche. I have no issues spending $6000 on wheels but $6500 + fitting/paint for the aerokit was a tough pill to swallow.

putting gt3 parts on a c2 thats like putting m3 kit on a 318 ;)

looks fantastic, when I eventually have enough cash to get a c2 I'd get one just like that

It's nothing like that at all, the c2s isn't even remotely close to a 318 in stature, not to mention it's not a GT3 kit, it's a part specifically made for the carrera/carrera S and is even a factory option.

Furthermore, my car is far from in standard form anyway.

But I know you're kidding so I will leave it at that :p

Always liked the aerokit, it's a shame it's so rare as it massively improves otherwise comparably bland looks...

For interest, if you wanted a more powerful 997S with an aerokit, why not the GT3? Is it available over there?

The GT3 is a rather focused car, whereas the C2S is a perfectly normal day to day car. He wanted his already awesome car to look even more awesome, he doesn't want to spend his weekends on a track.

I thought there was a comfort spec GT3 that was better for use as a daily?

I'm completely ignorant on the subject, but I don't imagine the extra ~40 horses are easy (or cheap!) to come by?

Sure, in the same way you could have a radio and aircon in an M3 CSL.

Still wouldnt have one over an M3 for daily driving, mind.

I see your point, but I thought I'd seen ads for said Comfort spec GT3's including nav etc? The point being (again, from a completely ignorant POV) I wondered what the difference (spec etc) was between a Carrera S and a GT3 Comfort? I'd guess that PASM (stiffer dampers?), Sport Chrono (faster throttle response?) and a sports exhaust would be standard on the GT3, but that's unlikely to be a downside to someone adding power... What else is there? Less sound proofing?

Lovely lovely addition, think the aerokit really does make a 911, seem to notice a lot more 996's over here with the kit in ad's is this because it was a cheaper option back then?

What have you had done out of curiosity?

It's mostly just the usual suspects but it's having some internal work done too. I seemed to have got lucky with this particular engine since stock it put down 365 on the dyno, compared to my friends same age S doing 352.

It's had a full AWE system, plenum, EVO intake and a softronic tune currently. Last run put me at 396 on a scorching hot day.

The GT3 is available and I could have had one but there's a few reasons why I don't. First of all, at the time, this was my daily driver. The GT3 is lower than my car, has no rear seats (which I need) and given the mileage I was putting on it, I didn't want the potential repair bills of the GT3. To give you an idea, a new engine for my S from Porsche is about $15-18k fitted, same thing for the GT3 and you're looking at $40k+. I like to trade before the warranty on any of my cars expires but with going to medical school, I needed something I could keep out of warranty safely.

Secondly, the GT3 is a fair bit harsher than my S. My wife likes the S and I'd like to keep it that way, since buying 100 grand cars is significantly easier with wife approval!

Its an old argument, id never have a GT2 or 3 over a S either, for that 2% of the time the car shines its just not worth it i dont think.
