They have the usual problems associated with the VAG 1.8T (no idea what they are though).
The car itself is solid, the only major common fault is water ingress through the doors.

If you want a cheap to run car i wouldn't be getting something petrol powered with a turbo bolted to it, i also wouldn't be buying a 1.8t, when they get to that sort of age they usually become a moneypit.

I thought that was a diesel too, couldn't understand the comments.I was about to disagree as my mate has an Ibiza FR (Diesel) on a fair bit more than 100k miles.

doubt you'll beat such a car. pretty solid things.
The Leon has a much better interior build quality and solid feel compared to the Ibiza.
You get an extra 30BHP and a slightly bigger turbo with the Leon Cupra too so they remap better
Great cars, wonderful engine - a nice torquey 2.2, plus plenty of off- and on-VTEC grunt.
