Depends on how much you have had to drink ;)

But ignoring that for a minute, I have woken up with a dead arm/leg in the morning and my body never waked me up earlier.
 
Yeah I woke up in the middle of the night with a dead arm - I was drunk so I was using it as a pilllow on my mates floor.
I then Tried to get up to use the bathroom and nearly collapsed everywhere. It was quite the effort to get up without falling over using drunk wits and my left arm
 
First time it happened to me it was in both arms - Freaked the hell out of me. Ended up knocking over a glass of water as I flopped them around trying to get back some feeling.
 
I get it sometimes, maybe once a month on the arm that I sometimes put under my pillow while sleeping, TBH I like the feeling, especially when all the nerves start switching back on.

As others have mentioned its nothing to do with blood circulation, Its just a trapped nerve. If it was blood circulation then you would be in big trouble as after several min the arm would start to die and would have to amputated.

It feels like the blood has been cut off when it happens to me as I can feel it rushing back when I wake, or is this just a nerve thing again? I'd love to have a video camera next to me when it happens. It must look hilarious when it wakes me and I'm picking up my arm and with my working arm, all over the place. :D

From memory one to two hours of cut off circulation might result in amputation if you live of course. A lot of people die if the circulation is returned after a long period. that's from infection, from an open wound. O drop in blood presure due to open wounds being sealed by the crush.
I doubt it is ever cut of for long in sleep.

I sometimes get a dead arm when i sleep funny...when i first got it i freaked out a bit until the feeling came back...that was a weird feeling but after the 2nd time round i just flapped my arm about like Gaijin then proceeded to smack my face and cut my lip...this happened about 10 yrs ago though.
 
I go through stages of where I do it almost every night, normally for a week or so. Its amusing at first when its numb, but when the circulation starts to come back it stings like bloody hell :p
