What would happen if you were on job seekers allowance for a substantial time and then finally managed to get a job, however you soon got fired from that job or not kept on after a trial period.

Would you be able to go back onto the benefits or does something else happen?

All depends for what reason you were fired or not taken on, it could be viewed as malicious and and a means to get back on benefit.

i dont think that you can be accepted for JSA again after being fired. I think Thesaff is right, they may see you as wanting to go back onto benefits again.

Why were you fired?

I wasn't fired and I asked this question because a friend was caught doing something he should not have been doing in a new job he just started. He was on benefits for a long time and I wondered what would happen if he were to lose that job.

I bilieve if its less than 12 weeks since your claim ended then you can go back on JSA pretty quicky, however they will contact the employer to see why you were fired. If they determine you were at fault they may disqualify you from claiming JSA for up to 26 weeks.

He shouldn't get anything.

If he was that bothered about having a job he shouldn't have got fired. No doubt we will still fund him through life though.

What arrogance.

Arrogance?

Maybe. But the point remains. If he gets fired it means he's done something either serious or repeatedly.

Why should anyone do anything for him if he isn't even willing to help himself.

He got a job in a fairly tough climate after a long time of being on JSA. If he squanders that chance then its his problem.

You don't know the person in question from adam let alone the reasons he was on benifits for a length of time before, what he's hot water for now and to make any sort of judgement wether he should be entitled to benifits or not in the future.

You've not been told these details and you've not been asked for an opnion on such matters, just advice.

You've just generalised. Think before you make sweeping comments.
