I was reffering to Lord Mike, and talking about 4 Cylinders. You just can't help yourself can you.

You could make a living out of this.

You said, with absolutely no quote to provide context and with no 'or displacement' caveat:

No but if you want power you either need revs, or a turbo

I replied accordingly.

The correct statement should have been:

No but if you want power you either need revs, displacement, or a turbo.

No but if you want power you either need revs, displacement, an electric assist or forced induction.

:p

A hatchback is supposed to be practical.

A French hatchback with plastic windows, scaffolding, no radio, no A/C is about as worthwhile as a handbrake on a canoe.

If it's something to be used on track, get something thats a million times better than a FWD hatch.

Whats the bodystyle got to do with anything?

Exactly what I was thinking!

I'll tell that to several people I know who have track Nova's, 205's and even Metro's with plastic windows and scaffolding who post faster lap times the many of the 'worthwhile' cars you're probably going on about.

They might get faster lap times, i go on track to enjoy myself, and have fun, and a RWD car such a westfield or caterham would be far more enjoyable that a peice of a **** nova.

So do these people. With a LSD and around 200BHP a FWD car can be a capable track car.

Fun is relative to what you want.

Plus, many of the Catherham drivers I've seen are just Sundays drivers with a few quid in the bank.

Im still laughing at Nova's and Metro's.

And......

They're cheap, can be easily modified and cost peanuts to replace if something goes wrong.

As long as you enjoy racing them, why does it matter what you're driving.

There are plenty of videos on the net showing how crap (not) Nova's and 205's can be on the track.

At the 2008 'Ten of the Best' event which has some of the countries top 4WD, FWD and RWD cars a crappy Nova on a very technical handling circuit posted a faster lap time than 13 RWD cars including a Lotus Exigie G, Dodge Viper and Sierra RS Cosworth plus 11 4WD cars including a GTi-R, Skyline R33 GTR and a handful of Scoobys. It was only 1.093 econds slower than a Fiat Couple turbo with 400BHP and 6 seconds slower than a DAX Rush Turbo and Mitsubishi EVO 5 RS being driven by professional racing drivers. The Nova time was posted on his 5th ever lap of the circuit.

So if beating all those is a 3K bucket isn't fun I don't know what is!
