Clio 200 Cup via finance

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this! I've always been happy enough with the comfort levels in my Civic, although I didn't buy it for comfort it has to be said.

Some roads it was fine, the Slyfield estate is easily the worst road in Guildford/Woking.

Probably didn't help that these two were being tested against bigger more expensive cars so I'd expect them to come out as having harder suspension.

Not sure why it's such a moot point, I thought both cars we're very similiar but the Civic was a nicer drive and better generally, plus it's cheaper to buy!

So my experience with 1 dealer has been.... rubbish. They contacted me via a forum, it was his day off yesterday but he promised a quote first thing today. Nothing received so I emailed him a reminder, oh Mr Adam it will be with you asap. Still nothing. Not impressed!

I know we're talking EP3 here, so what went wrong with the FN2 suspension, as that is mega firm isn't it?

It's firmer yes, but tbh it doesn't really bother me (I do 3-4hour drives in it weekly)

It's not 'OMG A STONE IN THE ROAD I'M GOING TO BREAK MY SPINE GOING OVER IT'...

Different rear suspension, though it's not as bad as idiots like Clarkson made out. He just didn't like it because it only made a claimed 1hp over the Ep3. Loads have been dyno'd at around 210-215.

DC5 suspension is worse, and im on Teins, it's a bit shocking tbh, lol, swapping springs next week. The FD2 is even harder. Them Japs probly have much smoother roads than ours.

Dyno inaccuracies? Pretty much the same engine as what's in the EP3, no?

Nope, it explains why the Fn2 is so close to the EP3 in acceleration, as it weighs a fair bit more.

Similar engine, doesn't mean they can't get more power out of it.

Probably fat people scraping past it when they get in and out the car? My recaro bolsters were fine on my 10 year old Civic, yet i'd seen cars even newer than mine with crushed/wearing thin bolsters.

Older Recaros were always quite hard wearing but those new ones on the Clio are poor in comparison (I've got Recaros in my Mini and they're great)

I've not researched the differences between the K20 in the EP3 and FN2, but the 1hp gain was probably due to the different design of the exhaust/more efficient cat maybe? I'm sure the motor itself is identical.

This is now way OT (apologies OP) so i'll leave it at that.

Okie doke Tim.

I don't have freinds with FN2's, and ive not spoken to well respected tuners at some of the best places to tune a Type R, so your right.

The DC5 engine, is very similar to the K20 in the Ep3, but it still makes 217 and opposed to 197. Magic eh?

I have no clue why you're talking about tuning Hondas when we're comparing a standard EP3 and a standard FN2.
