Hi all,

What is a known good snack/sweet to have to get your blood sugar up?
Want to get a packet of something I can keep in the car I can have when necessary.

I don't normally every buy sweets or chocolate type food so would rather get something that is not packed with additives and e-numbers etc.

+1 for the Dextro-Energy sweets. Both my parents are diabetic and keep a packet handy at all times.

We get them from the chemist, so your local probably has them also.

Diabetic?

My GF is diabetic, those dex tablets mentioned above are good.

And general lucosade. Don't forget you need longer lasting carbs as well, the dex/lucosade is good in the short term, but you need something that will break down slowly as well. I.e A sandwich or something.

+1 for jelly babies.

I use these on hikes/scrambles and long distance runs.

On a side not, if you need a quick hit, fruit is usually better as the sugar in fruit is easier to break down.

Jelly beans. Quick and easy to digest too.

It's not unheard of for runners to pop a few before a marathon.

I maybe wrong, but dont quote me, doesnt a banana contain quite a lot of sugar.I cant remember if its what diabetics have or that is for people who have potassium deficiency

Fruit might be a better option, especially well ripened fruit as when fruit ripens carbohydrates are turned into sugar.

Not in such a high density as a jelly bean. :)

does this count as a medical thread?

Herbal tablets are good for sugar (but there sweets not 'tablets')
