Well, let me make myself crystal clear. Of course I'm aware the majority of them get respectable jobs and nowhere in this thread have I at any point said or even suggested 'ALL' are involved in guncrime. What I am saying is that youths of the black community seem to be more predispositioned to guncrime than anyone else. Does that make me a racist? Well let's see. Racist suggests that one dislikes or even hates the whole of a particular race of people. I dislike white people that commit heinous crimes, does that make me dislike all white people? No. Just those that think it's cool to kill, steal or hurt others.

It doesn't make you racist, but it does make you rather thick.

If you took 1000 black and other ethnic youths and 1000 white youths from similar economic and social backgrounds with access to similar education in a similar economic climate, and THEN compared the number of them which had been murdered or commited a murder, what do you think you would find? You reckon you would still notice that black kids seems predisposed to gun crime or do you think we might find something out a bit less racist?
 
I think what merlin is getting at guys is not that the colour of their skin is what causes them to be so violent, but the volatile mix of chicken and watermelon in their diets which has such adverse side effects as gang joining and teenage parenting!

Doesn't make me thick at all. I'm going on reported facts in the news, while you're merely speculating. There are extremely poor and uneducated whites and other ethnics just as much as there are in the black communities, yet you predominantly hear about gun and knife crime from the black communities.
 
In my line of work I work closely with the police, and also deal with crimes which happens often. Of the 40 arrests that have been made this year, 37 of them were IC3s. :(

It's a shame that these sort of statistics are around as it does seem to propagate negative aspects towards different ethnicities. :( However, do the facts and figures give an honest representation? I don't know.

It could just be a case of the 80/20 rule. i.e. 80% of the problems happen owing to 20% of the issues - which in this case could be certain ethnic minorities. Perhaps. I'm just putting it out there.

A more analytical view could be just that they're just the ones being caught? Or it could be a case of being underprivileged owing to whatever circumstance their background/parentage/etc... has left them in. I'm not saying this is an excuse, but just trying to give some possibilities...

Unfortunately, most people will see what they want to see or what is made obvious to them - if you constantly put Jews/Black/Asian/East European/Fat/Slim/Muslim/whatever type of people in the media, and make them a focal point in a negative way people will start to assume it to be the case all the time.

Yes, but its the reasons underlying that.

Just going on about how its the black community time after time is a bit thick if that's the only level of argument brought to the table.

Of course we need to solve the reasons behind it, but someone isn't 'thick' if they're talking of FACTS seen in the news on a regular basis.

But, it that's all you bring discussion wise without examining the underlying reasons or providing a solution... It is pretty 'thick' way to present it.

Again, what about Glasgow having the highest murder rate in Europe?

What is that saying? Not much without the colour of someones skin I feel around here...

Yeah, Raoul Moat was black. Yep, the Soham murderer was black. Derrick Bird was black. stephen griffiths was black. Fiona Donnison was black. Peter Chapman was black too.

Yeah, all murderers are black :rolleyes:
