Whatever the financials behind it, ocuk have said time and time and time again in the past that they don't tolerate talk of tv shows , movies , games etc which haven't yet been released here. We had this whole argument before when The Pacific was coming and loads of people watched it before it was released here and then ran to the forums to post about it. Let's not get this thread locked by talking about it, if you've downloaded it and watched it before its out then at least have the dignity and self control to keep shut up about it rather than bragging that you've seen it.

I can understand why, but some of us do actually watch it on TV when its first aired. Im going to a halloween party that night, but i'll defo be recording the show and watch it when i come back :)

But ratings are done on the nielsen ratings they don't actually know what you're watching.

The nielsen families don't tend to dl stuff.

Do you honestly think that networks monitor what everyone is watching some how?

Also the network must be pretty confident as it's going on in sweeps week.
they dont? then how do we get the viewing figures for the week then?
aparently 9.7million people watched eastenders on monday ;)

Absolutely, I'm sure that some folks are in regions where its being aired, no problem with that, just be respectful that a .co.uk website is "based" in a region where something might not of aired. Rules are rules and all that :)

nielsen ratings style systems.

so many people consent to having a monitor put in, but out of the 100 million + Americans that's only 25 thousand, while others are given diaries to record what was watched and by who.

Can you imagine just how much of the spectrum would be taken up if everyone's Tv had to transmit via radio waves exactly what it was watching?

They take a sample size and then extrapolate, like "69% of Britons say x studies.

digital TV stations cant tell how many people are watching what channel? sky , virgin media dont know what there customers are watching?

not unless you've got it hooked up to the internet/via cable and even then it's unlikely they'd bother as they'd have to say "do you mind if we record all data on what you watch"

You'd have to have a transmitter in every box and every tv transmitting the data back, would be a horrific mess.

it's just done on surveys and extrapolated.

The fact the walking dead is being released in sweeps week in america means they're expecting it to do very well, as sweeps weeks are what the main cost of advert space is done from.

This is gonna be a great show, i love zombie movies and always wondered if a tv show would come out based on a zombie apocalypse. I just hope it lasts longer than 1 season.

this is really annoying me all the yanky kids say that 28 days later copied the walking dead hospital scene WRONG WRONG WRONG 28 days was released in 2002 were as the walking dead comic was first published late 2003, granted a lot of books and films have characters waking up in beds after events with changes happening ie the day of the triffids but the annoying whiney yanks are just that annoying

I had always assumed that the hospital wake up scene in 28 days was a direct homage to the hospital wake up scene in day of the triffids anyway.

Yes this looks sick, I'm glad someone posted about this in the wrong section (GD) otherwise I would have missed out :D.

this looks lame
remember harpers island? that was good. it was all the same, murder, island, people being picked off, but its the 'whodunnit' that keeps you watching.

whats special about this? its just gonna be a long drawn out movie.
a resident evil tv show
without the glamour

lame

I have not read the thread at all - just thought I would pop in to say that Robert Kirkman's comic series "The Walking Dead" is probably one of the best written and drawn series in a decade or so, and just on the strength of it, I am willing to give this TV adaptation one season for no other reason than that.

Harper's island was one of the most Dog **** shows I've seen from the American networks.

This immediately negates your opinion on a TV show that is a) a highly acclaimed Graphic Novel adaption and B) created by Frank Darabont

Comparing the Walking Dead to Resident Evil is like comparing Lost to Home & Away.

The Resident Evil movies have no substance, just bigsplosions, big splosions, somebody gets bitten, bigsplosions.

The Walking Dead is a piece on how a post apocalyptic world infested with zombies affects the relationships between people and their ability to cope psychologically and how this effects their humanity.
