So, in your opinion, where has this new multicultural accent stemmed from? If it isn't because of huge numbers of immigrants moving into London (where now almost nobody speaks 'cockney' accent), then what caused it?

I've not actually studied the demography of 'innit blud' However, being a teenager, I can tell you that people my age of all different backgrounds use that sort of language.
but one thing I'd say to you is that you're being ridiculous. One of the reasons that I suspect that the number of people speaking cockney has gone down is just due to chronological progression of language.
I mean think about it. In the early 20th century, when I watch clips of old footie matches in black and white, I hear the commmentator with one of those posh type accents. It sounds wonderful, but unfortunately nobody speaks like that nowadays. Are you going to blame that on immigrants?
The word dumb means somebody who is physically disabled and unable to walk. Yet now it means somebody who is not clever. Are you going to blame this on immigrants?
The word gay used to mean merry, now it means homosexual. Are you going to blame this on immigrants.
A lot of the word that Shakespeare used don't even exist anymore, are immigrants to blame?
I honestly don't think that immigrants moving into this country is the cause of chav culture or the decline of the cockney accent.
Well, why don't you ask the people behind operation trident why they call it 'black on black gun crime' instead of just gun crime?
