A Citroen BX 19 GTi Auto!

Not strictly speaking £33, but £100 - hoiwever we bought it as a joint project so £33.33 each!

This afternoon took a trip into London to look for a new car for my mum (since she wrote off her last), either way it turns out the car was a bit of a shed - but on the way back to our car out of the corner of my eye I noticed something for sale ...

Needless to say it didn't take long for my old man and best mate to take notice, and before I knew it we were signing a V5 - after stumping up £33.33 each we were left with the following:

1989 BX 19 GTi Auto
79,000 Miles
MOT July 2011
Tax Feb 2011
Looks to me like it has most of the options, including 4 electric windows, e-mirrors, ABS.
What surprised me most is the hydraulics all work fine, and the gearbox is really smooth and it goes surprisingly well. The outside is tatty but not terrible.

Either way, It will become a little project - maybe even with a project thread - just couldn't resist! Will stick up some more pics when its light.

If the engines good, then thats a great buy, the engines used to be popular for transplantation purposes, they had some character these things.

Think so, if my french nail engine detecting skills are still sharp :p

Certainly runs ok.

If it's a BX GTI 16 then it will have an Mi16 engine of some variant. If it's a BX GTI then it will have an 8V XU as found in the 205 & 309 GTI.

If you open the bonnet you really won't mistake the two :p

Pics not great but it doesn't look like it has side skirts, so it should be an 8v

It's most likely the 1.9 8v lump that's also in the 205gti. The Mi16 is badged as a GTi 16v and I don't think they did it in an auto.

Just been and checked - 8v XU - could have been better but meh!

My third is the back bit, because at least when the suspension breaks it still looks cool slammed :D

you pay more for a console game these days

how can you complain at that price !

4 hours of Medal of Honour or that !! lol

We had one for a couple of months just to see how it was about 5 years ago, 1.9 tzi manual, extremely comfy and the only bad about it was the understeer, it's the reason my dad bought a C5... For 33 quid I'd buy one immediately, the scrap value is worth more , they still fetch 500-1500€ here surprisingly .

My nan had an estate one of these, it used to to many long trips from England to France and was surprisingly reliable until something happened to the suspension, after that it was replaced with something far less oddball! :D
