UFC 121 LIVE discussion thread [SPOILERS WITHIN]

I hear what your all saying about him not defending himself properly, but come on, if you know anything about big fighters, big guys, you know they dont do things properly, not like lightweights, they're big tanks, especially brock, brock is a true heavweight where as cain is more like a middleweight in my eyes, and they should change the numbers around, maybe give them a review. Coz times have changed and people are bigger these days.

Anyways, I just think so what, a big gash on his face so what, blood everywhere, so what, brock could have made it to end of that round, and 2nd round he could have come back, it could have got 5 rounds.

Cain didn't knock him out, so in my eyes, I hate that ref now, that was seriously bad decision!

Come on guys, if you've watched boxing and MMA for most of your life yeah, surely you've seen fights where it looks like one guy gets owned, but he comes back to win.

Also look at boxing, in boxing, guys get knocked down and dazed, then get given sometime to get back up, and then the fight continues, this is one thing that I dont like about UFC, they seem to stop fights too easy, I wish it was like boxing in that respect.

Seriously dude, chill pill, take a step back, sleep on it, look at it in the morning etc. Its all well and good being a fan of a fighter, I'm a Lesnar fan myself, but he was done.

Velasquez had given him an utter pasting, Brock wasnt intelligently defending himself, and the referee did what referees are paid to do, he saved the fighter from serious injury by (justifiably) stopping the fight. You didnt hear any complaints from Brock did you?

Just seems like sometimes some of the fights come down to the refs decision on the day, I've seen other UFC fights where I thought the fight should be stopped but the ref let it continue.

Brock was the champ yeah, so surely that should mean the ref should have given him the benefit of the doubt, and he should also get extra leeway on top of that also.

How was brock done? he was still concious.

Are you saying all fights should be unlimited amount of time with no rounds just a fight until one man gives up or is unconcious?

The stoppage was justifiable as Brock wasn't getting out of the position, the ref gave him loads of time to defend himself properly and he didn't, it was only going to go downhill from Lesnar if the fight carried on.

The lights were on but no body was at the wheel, Herb Dean is one of the best if not the best referees there is in MMA!

Yeah I know Herb Dean is the best, which is why am so surprised he stopped it.

Also to all of those who posted above and said "this was justified", you haven't explained why, in detail...a cut and some blood doesnt always stop fights in UFC, I've seen some fights where guys are completely covered in blood.

Hell I even watch strikeforce fights aswell and watch the women fight and even they are covered in blood sometimes.

You can be drenched in blood but still be defending yourself/working

Brock wasn't, he was getting blow after blow from Cain unanswered

How was Brock going to turn it around in your mind then? How wasn't it justified? He was taking damage without protecting himself or succesfully getting to a better position.

No I didnt say that, thats just being silly.

Not trying to be elitist here, but you've admitted yourself that you've only been into MMA for 6 months, and mainly started watching it because you're a huge fan of Brock.

You've got a forum full of MMA fans, most of us watching it since the very days of the UFC, PRIDE, hell some of us even remember Pancrase, and we're all saying it was a justified stoppage. If it was a dodgy stoppage, we would be up in arms.

Yes, I understand that Brock survived Carwins onslaught, there was an argument at the time that Brock could have been stopped there, and there was one huge, monumental, difference between Carwins attack and Cains. Cain was landing, Cain was landing clean, hurtful, shots. Cain was landing over and over, Lesnar was not doing anything to improve his position, he was simply in survival mode, trying to hang on.

That fight probably cost me £60-70, as I had a lot of trebles just waiting on Lesnar to come in, but honestly, I can't complain, Cain beat him fair and square.
